Rodney Terry was finally rewarded with the removal of the interim tag at Texas. He will sign a 5 year contract as the next Texas Basketball HC. 3M a year, not a big money deal in this market for sure, but I'll bet he is thrilled to be given the keys to the Program and see what he can to do to keep it where it's at and improve it. Well deserved.
Terry, I believe your AD has come with a solution that will be good for all parties concerned. Terry will have a golden opportunity to succeed and increase his earnings if he can win and the university wins as well.
We all know how good Catlin Clark is as a basketball player, but she is also a hyper competitive player who is no shrinking violet! Some might call her chippy, but she can back it up.
Pretty big shock here. Michigan star big man Hunter Dickinson entered the transfer portal Friday. Dickinson, a 7-foot-1 junior, is classified as a graduate transfer and plans to graduate at the end of the summer semester. One of the most dominant centers in the country over the course of his three seasons in Ann Arbor, he immediately becomes the best player in the portal this spring. Dickinson earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2021 and 2023 and second-team honors in 2022. He was also a consensus second-team All-American in 2021 following his freshman season with the Wolverines.
Izzo has some good thoughts on College Basketball. The NCAA should listen to him. Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said he has "no faith" in the NCAA's plan to limit the immediate eligibility exceptions for two-time transfers because players will continue to use issues such as mental health to earn waivers. Izzo: Mental health big driver of transfer waivers
It looked like it was Va.Tech at the end of the 3rd qtr and then LSU came out in the 4th qtr and just smoked them. They turned up the defense and forced turnovers, they really hit the offensive glass and put back the chippies that they got from them. Angel Reese when she gets the ball down low she's going to score. I love Elizabeth Kitley but they pushed her around under the basket. Kim Mulkey who is one of my least favorite coaches is into the Nat'l Championship game in her 2nd year at LSU.
Really good game South Carolina/Iowa. Catlin Clark has not disappointed and the Hawkeyes take a 1 point lead into the half. You can see why South Carolina is so good, lord they have size inside and depth inside. Their best player, Boston, sat a lot in the 2nd qtr due to fouls but they didn't miss her. They have a 6'7" center who doesn't really have to even leap to get rebounds and she makes her bunnies. They have scored a lot of their points inside on put backs. South Carolina has thrown the kitchen sink at Catlin Clark, throwing multiple players at her, she's tough and has played a lot of minutes all year but South Carolina is doing it's best to wear her down.
Hawkeyes holding on to the lead by 4 points going to the 4th qtr. Clark has cooled off a bit in the 3rd but Iowa is playing a really smart game vs South Carolina. But it's the 4th qtr where South Carolina's depth and size wear teams down.
Don isn't that size inside for South Carolina amazing. Cordoza if she gets the ball it's going in or she's getting the rebound and then it's going in. That Iowa center is very good but she's just not big enough to to handle those bigs. It is interesting that she rarely puts the ball on the floor. With a dribble.
Really a good game to watch. I did not think Iowa could match up with South Carolina in the paint. The Gamecocks controlled the boards, but Iowa played a great game and led most of the way. Clark ended up with 39 points by my count. Great win for Hawkeyes and a difficult loss for South Carolina.
Great win for the Hawkeyes, Clark was amazing, 41 points! This reminds me of the 2015 Men's Tourney when undefeated Kentucky led by 2 #1 NBA draft pick in Willy Cauley-Stein and Karl Anthony Towns and several other 5 star players. They were undefeated and dominant in the regular season and expected to run away with the NCAA Championship, but Wisconsin had other thoughts.
Without Clark, SC would have blown Iowa out of the gym. She accounted for 75% of Iowa’s points with her scoring and assists. She is a true superstar, a basketball Goddess.
Agreed. About midway thru the 4th quarter I was thinking that Iowa was making a huge mistake...playing everything through Clark...other players just watching her work. Nobody else seemed to want to drive or take a shot. They have other players who can come through. She bricked a couple shots and I thought "here we go" but then she just sucked it up and went to work. Amazing. Also the gap in rebounding was (understandably) horrendous but Iowa got the biggest offensive rebound of the game at the end.
It did seem like the Iowa players were deferring to Clark more than normal. I mean she dominates the offense that's for sure, but against Louisville they had 2 other players who were in double figures and didn't seem to defer to Catlin, they fired away when they had the chance and hit some big 3's.
