Mark Turgeon of Maryland has stepped down as their HC. They've named Danny Manning as the interim and will look for a new coach after the season. I read that as ok Danny show us what you can do and maybe you'll get the job!!

Alabama went to Seattle Washington and beat Gonzaga. That's 2 losses for the Zags now, and in the pre-season they were odds on favorites to win the Nat'l Championship. Looks like they will have to win it the old fashioned way, on the court week to week!

Undoubtedly the greatest moment for Alabama athletics in the last couple days. Hours after their counterparts on the gridiron took down top-ranked Georgia in the SEC championship game on Saturday, Nate Oats' Crimson Tide went to Seattle and knocked off No. 3 Gonzaga -- and made a statement that they're going to be a factor in the SEC college basketball title race once again this season.

Stu's Boilermakers are #1. When was the last time Purdue was #1 in mens basketball? Rick Mount days?

I just read somewhere that indicated this is a first time for the Boilermakers. They really do look good to me and intimidating.

Big upset last night. Winless Texas Southern University beat the #20 Gators in Gainesville. The first time ever a member of the SWAC conference beat a ranked SEC opponent.

Quite a shock. We started great but this is a blow.

Quite a number of Gator fans are down on White. I am not one of them but this is quite a bump in the road.

Yeah, in basketball, A loss or two early, can be useful in waking the team up and setting up a good run into postseason. Unlike football, where a single loss can be catastrophic.

I think football could get closer to basketball in the respect that you can play some tougher games early and even lose without it killing you if we go to 12 team playoff. The "all champions get an auto-bid" can't be part of the model for it to work...

I always have liked his composure in talking about losses. It's no surprise that he's recruited well and is in the position of having a top team. I agree with kp that it's one loss in a long season, which may help the team's psyche moving forward.
