Really did not expect us to get by Tennessee. The teams that won the ACC, SEC, and BIG conference tournaments are all out.
Was this the UM team everyone thought they would be at the start of the season? Impressive win against a very good Team. For the 5th straight year the defending National Champion fails to make the sweet sixteen, Baylor.
Yikes, Gonzaga down 10 late in the 1st half and St. Peters in leading Murray State late in the 2nd half, could they make the sweet 16? Been some big upsets on the women's side with Belmont taking down Oregon and two 11 seeds in Princeton and Villanova taking down 6 seeds in Kentucky and BYU. Two 4 seeds in OU and Arizona having a battle with their 13 seeded opponents in IUPUI and UNLV.
Big upset on the women's side, Creighton beat Big 10 Champion and held the nation's leading scorer in Caitlyn Clark. Game was played at Iowa in front of a sold out /standing room only arena.
Barring a miracle it looks like Villanova will beat Ohio State and get to the sweet 16. In other somewhat surprising news (to me at least) Sean Miller is returning to Xavier as the HC. Surprised mainly because he left Arizona under a bit of a cloud, one of the coaches caught up in shoe company fueled paying of players. Which of course is totally legal now with NIL.
Duke on to the Sweet Sixteen, got on a run to finish off the Spartans. Texas/Purdue coming up later could/should be a great game.
Bucky goes down in Milwaukee to Iowa State, an 11th seed that only won 2 games last year. Out of the 9 BIG teams that were in the tournament, only Michigan and Purdue remain.
I see the Longhorns brought the baby drum not the Super Drum... too bad we didn't bring an offense! Treyvion Williams is having is way with the Longhorns.
Texas finally got some offense going and closed the gap and it's a 6 pt game at half. Oddly enough Jayden Ivey has been a nonfactor on offense so far. Miami is about to send #2 seed Auburn home. 12 point lead with under 3 minutes to play
Congrats Stu, it turned out to be a great game. Jayden Ivey was a big factor in the 2nd half, Boilermakers were the better team, proud of the Longhorns coming back from a terrible start and making a game of it.
Yeah, thanks...that Ramey kid played quite the defense on Ivey, particularly in the first half. We finally got past Chris Beard...he knocked us out of the first round of the tourney in 2016 when he was at Little Rock and then in 2018 beat us with Texas Tech to advance to the Elite Eight.
ACC - Duke, Miam, UNC B12 - Kansas, Iowa State, Texas Tech B10 - Michigan, Purdue Pac12 - Arizona, UCLA Big East - Villanova, Providence SEC - Arkansas. WCC - Gonzaga AAC - Houston MAAC - St. Peters 4 double digit seeds in the Sweet 16. #15 St. Peters #11 Iowa State #11 Michigan #10 Miami. Big 10 with 9 teams had a disaster SEC with 6 teams also had a disasterous 1st weekend Big East quietly didn't do well either, they also had 6 teams
Tenn women escape with the win over Belmont. Belmont was at the free throw line and the chance to make it a 2 possession game and the Belmont shooter had only been to the line 7 times all year and missed both. Tenn then makes a clutch 3 for the 1 point lead. Belmont made a great pass to a player in position to make a 2 but she fumbled the ball out of bounds. Tough loss for the big underdog Belmont.
Very surprised to see our lady Buckeyes dominate LSU last night on their home court. Ohio State was on fire with their three point shooting and the play of guard #4 Sheldon. The ladies are doing what the men couldn't accomplish.
Terry, I do not like our chances against Texas, we have a depth problem and our two top scorers, are playing 40 minutes per game.
