Actually, Coach McCaffrey and his son both were called for technicals. One may not agree with a call but you do not argue profusely either. You are going to lose that argument every time!
I think they must be a pretty volatile family. His wife even called out some refs when he was at Siena. The Wife of a Coach Is Seen and Heard
Things are getting testy here at the end. Last night Tenn won at Ole Miss in a close game with call at the end that enraged Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis and the fans. Tenn players were hit with things thrown from the stands as they exited the court. Next up for the Vols is the home rematch with Kentucky. Biggest game of the year in the SEC.
Very disappointing new from Columbus this afternoon. Kaleb Wesson has been suspended for violating team rules but will be back prior to seasons end per Coach Chris Holtmann. I have no idea exactly, but without Wesson, our chances of winning any games without him are doubtful! Very bad timing on this incident.
Buckeyes no match for the Boilermakers today. Losing by 35 points without Kaleb Wesson still difficult to swallow.
Back when Purdue lost back to back games to Texas then Notre Dame I sure did not see a potential B1G Champion on the court. Nice job by the Boilermakers to stay the course .
Go Boilers! Of lesser significance but still notable, a hitherto struggling IU team upset Michigan State for the second time this season days after upsetting Wisconsin. They won't make the Dance, but the future may be brighter than some had thought, even without Langford and Morgan.
Tennessee beat Kentucky yesterday handily. The announcers said Kentucky had several (i don't remember the exact number) of the top 100 recruits on their team and I think Tennessee had none. I think their highest ranked recruit was around 130th. I just thought that was interesting.
Tenn is an old team with the majority of their scoring coming from jr/sr class, Kentucky is just the opposite they are a bunch of mostly NBA 1 and done's. That's going to change in the near future when the NBA does away with the rule that makes players go to college for a year. Then Kentucky and Duke will have to go back to doing it the old fashioned way, get players and develop them.!
Btw that was a huge win for the Longhorns over Iowa state yesterday. Back to back losses to OU and Baylor hurt quite a bit.. This gets us back to . 500 in the B12 and with Tech up next things would be bleak without the win Saturday night .
I see that Gonzaga is still ranked #1, they have certainly built up credibility with their play over the last 15 years or so, doing well in the tournament. But they play in a weak conference and have dominated it this year especially. St. Mary's has been their top competition the last 10 years and they (St. Mary's) have had some really good teams, they bring in a lot of foreign players esp from Australia. But if this were football they would barely be in the top 10, with their schedule. They have beaten Tenn though. They will likely barring a terrible WCC tournament they will likely be a #1 seed, maybe the overall #1 or maybe not. Virginia, Duke and UNC are right behind them. The ACC tourney will sort those 3 out though.
Longhorns getting run out of the gym in Lubbock. TCU on Saturday in Austin on Saturday won't be easy either.
I watched the Purdue game. They had their chances in the 2nd half, coming back from down 12 to tie and momentarily take the lead. Minny was on fire on senior night and could do no wrong. Purdue wasn't hitting their shots. No one is dominant in the conference. The tournament will be interesting. I would not risk picking a winner. IMO, it's wide open.
