Corey, I love to watch Coach Izzo. He is an excellent coach and always seems to have energy to spare. That was a great game to watch last night. Settled in OT. Ohio State entertains Syracuse this evening at 7:15 on ESPN2, probably a bit too early for you.
I watched the 2nd half. We have outstanding young talent, but the lack of experience allowed a late 12 point lead to disappear and give Illinois a chance to win the game at the end. They'll be fun to watch, but I expect to endure a lot of frustration throughout the course of the ACC schedule.
I watched the 2nd half as well Sid, it was 47-47 when I tuned in and then we went on a run and got the lead to 13 points. But atrocious free throw shooting even by our Sr leader Rex Pfluegger in the last 5 minutes. But as you say it's a young team and I took notice of some of the freshmen playing well. With so many freshmen contributing it'll be a lot of ups and downs. UNC and Michigan face off tonight along with Syracuse and Ohio State.
Don, I'll still be working then, but I plan to have it on the TV in the background. I'm looking forward to that game.
Syracuse takes down Ohio State, and Virginia beats Maryland. UNC/MICHIGAN and Purdue /FSU just starting. Both should be great games.
I watched that OSU-Cuse game. The Buckeyes had their chances but let opportunity escape each time. Flipping Syracuse just looks like they always do. Zone defense, long athletic bodies and a **** ton of 3 point shots.
Very disappointing loss and we just could not stop the treys from the Orange. Coach Holtmann was not pleased with the lack of defensive effort. 1st loss of the young season. I am confident there will be more.
You guys look pretty good Don, I don't think there will be that many losses. You should be an absolute beast come Spring, if he can keep the young team focused.
Michigan looks like the best team in the Big 10, they handled a good UNC team pretty easily last night. Purdue lost a close one at FSU The ACC/Big 10 Challenge ended up a tie 7-7. ACC dominated in the early years of the challenge but it's been pretty even the last 4 or 5 years.
ACC/Big10 Challenge on the women's side ended up 8-6 in favor of the ACC.. Purdue upset Miami and Minnesota upset Syracuse last night to bring it close for the Big 10. Some conference play starts this weekend. Mich and Purdue face off and Minnesota and Iowa play. All are ranked in the top 25.
Longhorns in trouble, lost again last night. This time it was to VCU in a close game. This team beat UNC and then seemed to forget how to play at the end of games. Fans are getting tired of Shaka Smart, the basketball arena is half empty for home games. Unless Shaka gets it turned around I'm not very hopeful he'll be long for Austin.
Ohio State won their second conference game last night over the Illini 77-67 at the United Center in Chicago. 43 fouls call against both squads in a rough and tumble game. Chris Holtmann was called for a technical file. Illinois coach ranted and raved but no technical?
I didn't see it but apparently that Seton Hall upset of Kentucky had an incredible finish in OT for an 84-83 win. Somehow it always feels right when Kentucky's band of 1 and done McDonald's AA's lose
Was surprised that Texas was able to beat Purdue, we were on a 3 game skid losing to Radford and VCU along with Mich State . So I expected Purdue to handle us pretty easily. But Carsen Edwards who happens to be from the Houston area kept the Boilermakers in the game single handedly with 40 freakin' points. Things are heating up though, as conference play nears for most teams and has already started in the B1G. Lot's of the undefeated teams won't be in a month.
Purdue stunk up the joint. There's been a need for more support for Carson Edwards all year but this game was the worst I've seen by his supporting cast. He had a great game. Purdue has been hitting three's pretty well all year and couldn't buy one. On the other hand, Texas hit a bunch...and from what I heard y'all aren't really a big force from long range. I didn't even want to talk about that game...but figured I ought to acknowledge it. Nice win for Texas.
ND and Purdue are playing this Sat in the Crossroads Classic, followed by IU and Butler. I don't expect the Irish to win Saturday, we are just too young this season and don't really have a go to guy yet. Some of our young players show promise and our big men (Mooney and Durham ) also show some promise. But it's going to be a work in progress for the Irish.
Should be a close contest then...we are surely a work in progress as well. Losing 4 of your starters never helps.
