    Here's hoping for the Gators.

In many ways this has been a disappointing season for us. If memory serves me correctly we opened the season as #1. Not a failure but not as successful as us Gators hoped.

Here's hoping we do well in the post season.

    For Bill..from The Athletic.

    Gainesville Regional
    1. Florida
    2. Miami
    3. South Alabama
    4. South Florida

Florida began the 2021 season as the consensus No. 1 team in the nation but showed some troubling signs — most notably on the mound — in a season-opening series loss to Miami in which the Gators allowed a total of 23 runs. This team has a ton of talent but hasn’t pitched well enough against quality competition to live up to the preseason hype. Miami hasn’t gotten great production from its starting pitching, but the Canes still managed to finish fourth in the ACC in ERA (4.33) and fifth in opponents’ batting average (.246). South Alabama played its way into the field by winning the Sun Belt tournament title. The Jaguars lost both of their games against SEC opponents this year — 11-8 at Alabama and 11-1 at LSU.

    Predicted winner: Florida

Yeah Terry, slow start and never really reaching the level expected.

Now we have that same Miami in our bracket. And if we win our Regional then we likely have #2 Texas waiting. I am not optimistic as to making the College World Series.

Irish are up 26 - 3 going to the bottom of the 9th. I think it's in the bag. They play winner of UCONN and Central Michigan in the final.

It's been like batting practice. Seems like there should be a 10 run rule after 7 or something.

    A slightly related item:
I've been watching a youtube channel where some guys take old bats from the middle to late 90's and try them out.
That was back at the pinnacle of bat tech with ZERO controls on them.
Some of them actually had gas bladders in the barrels!
They were hitting dingers over roads that they previously hadn't even got to the edge of.
It's crazy how explosive the old bats were and why its unlikely the old home run records from that era will ever be touched.

    Here's one of the vids:

The bats weren't this hot when I was in highschool, but all the same companies were around. I used an older version of the TPX.

Same with the bats when I was in high school. They were made of wood. :D
