Well there won't be five SEC teams in Omaha. It's fitting our season is ended by an error. Compound that with a night when our hitters watched way too many good pitches go by to strand runner after runner in scoring position and you get what you get. Childress will get another pat on the back for "getting so close". And we'll fade for a few years while he wrangles up another decent team. Bah, we need a change if we want to go for the big prize... :x
I'm mad because I invested myself into watching the entire game and they lost....And then I had to get up at 4:30 in the morning and go to work... A lose, lose scenario..... :x
I'm sure I was the only one here cheering for Louisville, who lost in their home park to a gutty Cal State Fullerton team. One thing that stood out for me was Louisville's closer, Burdi, who pitched the last 3 innings. He was throwing consistently 96-97 mph. A guy to keep an eye on IF he develops an offspeed pitch to complement his fastball. I think there's something to be said for a long-established culture of winning. This was not one of CSF's better teams in recent years, but they refused to lose and found a way to win. Their coach reminds me of a modern-day W.C. Fields. Big 10 strikes out in its quest to send a team to Omaha. Vanderbilt wins to have the chance to defend its title, plus its SS is the #1 player taken in the MLB draft.
Good spread for the CWS. Cal State Fullerton: - West Coast TCU - Texas Virginia - East Coast Miami - South Fla. Vandy, Arky, LSU, Fla - South East. North East and Midwest Strike Out. Still surprising that the South East (with 4 SEC + Miami) dominate. Texas and the West Coast are baseball hotbeds, with lots of MLB players from both area's.
Hey would you guys out on the West Coast take Augie back? BTW what's happened to the Dirt Bags, program in a little bit of a decline?
8) re: Augie Texas has the best Californians that money can buy. re: Dirtbags There's nothing wrong at Long Beach State that I know about. The talent here is so deep for baseball that virtually any school can have a great team just using walk-on players. Many universities out here have noticed the success of Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton etc. and have realized the possibilities of great returns for a minimum investment.
