2 out of 3 from Clemson on the road is very good. I hope this is a sign that Aoki has turned the corner with the baseball program.
The Aggies are on the road at Alabama. Two wins so far to extend the streak to 24. Final game later tonight to avoid possible bad weather tomorrow.
ND loses 6-4 in 18 innings to Louisville. Another competitive effort by the Irish vs. a top ten program.
The Aggies streak comes to an end at 24. Leaving too many runners in scoring position early cripples the offense, and the pitching finally breaks down a bit. Not a bad start tho. 8)
I'll keep this topic alive. since the Aggies continue to win. They took 2 of 3 from East leading Mizzou over the weekend to move to 27-2. Right now they are blowing out Sam Houston St 15-2 in the 6th, so that looks like 28-2 coming up. Hot swinging Kentucky is next up in Lexington, and they just took 2 of 3 from LSU over the weekend so it looks to be a test. Just keep winning boys! 8)
Getting worse for Texas....just lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi...geez. Barring some magical turnaround Augie is going to join Rick Barnes on the sidelines. No excuse. The State of Texas is loaded with great baseball players, and there is no better place to play than The University of Texas, we have a great history and great facilities ..we should always be a top 10 program headed to the CWS.
Scott, there's a kid here in Indy named Ashe Russell who is predicted to go very high in the next MLB draft. He's a left-handed senior at Cathedral HS, and the last time I paid attention, he had committed to ND. Apparently, something happened and the article I read the other day listed him as an A&M commit. He's one of those kids who may not ever see a college campus, depending on where he goes in the draft, but I wanted to give you a heads up in the event you wanted to check him out.
Sid the kid just blew up in the rankings after a great Jr. year and even a loyal Irish fan would question the direction of he program when he changed his mind and decided to look around for other opportunities. Playing in the SEC, Playing in Texas, and looking at A&M baseball facilities compared to ND it's a no brainer. But I agree from what I have read he's a likely high draft choice and could decide to go MLB.
I stand corrected. The kid's a right-handed thrower. Here's a scouting report from last October. It's TMI for me, but Scott might like to see it. http://battingleadoff.com/2014/10/28/top-2015-draft-prospect-ashe-russell-rhp-indianapolis/
Reading that bio, you have to come away impressed with the man and his record. I have to admit I actually didn't know who he was or what you meant with your post..Bobo walks off...but now I do.
Thanks for the heads-up Sid, I'll check him out. To be honest, I don't follow the baseball recruiting very closely thanks to the fact that so many go pro. Baseball recruiting has to be the toughest in the college game. You have to find guys who can play, but aren't developed enough to draw big money from the minors... Talked to Kes earlier about his departed coach. Quite a career!
The Aggies sweep a double header from Kentucky today to continue at the top of the SEC West. Rankings don't mean squat in baseball, but here's the coaches poll of Skybox teams: 1) Texas Aggies 5) Florida 6) UCLA 14) Miami 19) Horns 22) Arizona 23) Huskers
The Aggies outduelled Rice last night 4-3 in a game that is big for RPI. At this point I'm ready to say the Ags are working for a top 8 seed in post season. Still a lot of ball to go, but my boys are looking like they have the picthing to get to Omaha.
