Wow...Sooners hammered the Longhorns 16-1 last night a lot of records set as they hit 6 homers off of our pitching. Sooners win tonight and they are back to back Nta'l Champions, #6 for Natty Patty Grasso

Knowledgable poster on another board posted this about NIL and baseball.

For stud 1-4 round prospects is Approaching mid range 6 figures.

The transfer portal in college baseball is mind blowing right now.

It is anything but amateur athletics at this point.

Me: this means that baseball programs with the booster support will no longer be forced to live with the 11.5 scholarship limit. It will impact the competitive balance in college baseball

Pretty sure the scholly limit was going to be increased a LOT after this season anyway.

Pretty sure a lot of teams aren't going to have the booster backing to pay for more than a few kids over the 11.5 and most schools athletic depts aren't going to invest in scholarship expansion on a sport thqt loses money at the vast majority of programs.

Not to mention how Title IX will figure into all of this. Probably not a problem if kids are getting NIL deals to cover their scholarships, but a big deal if the athletic dept increases the number of scholarships it gives out.

I suspect the NCAA will mirror softball with whatever they do in baseball.
Which schools choose to stay in at that level will certainly be limited.

OU Softball is back to back National Champions. Left the Longhorns in the ditch bloody and beaten.

East Carolina takes out Texas in game 1, 13-7. A bit of a surprise, Texas pitching was supposed to be stronger.

Irish Baseball fans are very happy with Link Jarrett our coach but worried that we will lose him to a program in the South with more support. Clemson job came open at the end of the season and it's a program with resources.

But the other shoe dropped and his Alma Mater FSU just fired their coach. I would imagine they will come hard after him and make him an offer that will be hard to refuse.

Wow, Irish go to Knoxville and get the win vs Tenn. We didn't throw our Ace tonight, he will go tomorrow.

Irish jumped out to an 8-1 lead with power hitting, then held on to win 8-6

Tenn had some ejections, one of their players lost his cool and dropped a couple of F*bombs on the home plate ump and was immediately ejected and won't be available tomorrow. Their pitching coach came out of the dugout with some F*bombs as well and was promptly ejected as well, he has previous ejections and will be gone for the rest of the Super Regional and the 1st game of the CWS should the Vols advance.

Crazy day of ball, and I'm too tired after the marathon the Aggies just walked off in the 9th to say much.
Great win for the Irish, beat Tenn at their own game.
OU holding on was a bit of a surprise. ECU put the wood to Terry's boys in Orange. A good day for me!

That's mostly the " BALL #!" chant. After a walk the fans will chant Ball 5 in anticipation of another ball. Then 6,7,8 until a strike is thrown.
I doubt there's an effect on the major teams, but it has rattled a few pitchers in the past so we keep it up.
They will also use it when chanting an opposing players name for various reasons.

    Phew! (Thanks Don!)
I got back from a week at the coast in time to see the second half of the game.
I was driving during the early games, so don't know how ND vs Tenn or the others went down.

I wonder if the SEC can rethink coach of the year?
A&M just went from not making the SEC tourney in 2021, to Omaha in 2022.
I'm just happy to be here! :D

Louisville is a solid program and well coached. So that was a big win for the Aggies. Congrats.

They have absolute hammers up and down their lineup and tons of speed.

For once... our pitching came up HUGE when the bats were not rolling like usual.
The teams that weren't expected to be good can be the ones you most remember.
My fellow Aggies wont stop talking about this team for a LONG time.
