Auburn kid, Cole Foster, also hit two home runs in one inning, one right handed and a grand slam left handed. Irish and Tech have been in a long rain delay, game was supposed to start at 2PM and is just now in the 4th inning. Irish up 2-0.
Evening update. ND and Tech must've had a rain delay? Still 2-0 in the 4th. Florida is done with CMU 7-3. Georgia is getting blanked by VCU 7-0 in the 6th. Kennesaw St putting it on my favorite Bayou kittens 11-4 in the 6th. Michigan up on Oregon 6-5 in the 7th. Campbell walloped Georgia Tech 15-8. Tennessee wins 10-0
Irish win it in the 8th with a catcher’s interference, sac bunt, stolen base and wild pitch. Three different pitchers recorded an out in the 9th inning. A goofy game on a goofy day, but mission accomplished against a good team. Irish ace Bertrand started the game threw 26 pitches in the 1st inning and then there was that long delay of more than 3 hours and he didn't come back to pitch when the game resumed. Not sure I understand it, but what does that mean, could he pitch on Sunday? There is speculation that tomorrow is iffy for playing, more bad weather expected. FWIW, had the regional been awarded to ND, they would have played in San Diego like weather!
Who knew? How could Indiana have better weather than most of the rest of the country? It happens every once in a blue moon.
Terry let me down!! Ags win 9-6 and go to Sunday with two to give. ND leading Ga S 6-4 in the 8th. Bob's weasels beat Louisville 7-3 and I believe they into Sunday clean as well. Ralphs Canes win 11-6. Tom and Cindy win 12-7. Bills Gators took their first loss. Texas won 5-2.
Irish win and are into the regional final against the winner of the Tech /Ga Southern game. Sorry Scott playing golf, then watching golf! ⛳
ND score the last 2 runs, the winning runs, in a slightly unusual way in the bottom 7. GS brought in their Saturday starter with bases loaded and 2 outs. He proceeded to hit the next two batters, forcing in runs 5 and 6. ND quelled a GS rally in the 8th and held them in the ninth for the win. GS is legit.
Irish will face Texas Tech, they will have to beat us twice to advance. Naturally I would like to take care of business today!
Irish advance to the Super Regional. Beat Tech again 2-1. Bases loaded bottom of the 9th Tech's best player up, 2 outs he grounds out to 1st. It was a Regional run that was very odd for us. The 1st win v Tech was funky, yesterday we walked off (literally) and today we hang on and get the win. But as they say, win and move on. Likely #1 ranked Tenn is who we face.
Phew, what a late night. The Aggies rally from behind multiple times and end up scoring the winning runs in the 9th. Now waiting to see if we get Michigan or Louisville in the super regional. I'm pulling for ya Bob!
Watching Florida-Oklahoma. Florida up 2-1 in bottom 5. Louisville up 7-3 over Michigan, currently in delay, bottom 3rd.
Well many thought Oklahoma would cruise through the WCWS and take the National Championship without breaking a sweat or losing a game. They might yet win it all but UCLA proved that they can be beat today and now they are both playing again in an elimination game. Tom Brady's niece hit 2 homers to lead the Bruins.
Wow, it appears Bob's Weasels got HOSED. Even replay failed to correct the call on the Louisville player being thrown out at 2nd. Huge call that cost them the lead and arguably the game.
Tenn is not just #1, but they are maybe to best college baseball team in quite awhile. They have an incredible and intimidating home atmosphere. 37-3 at home this year. Going to be tough for the Irish to go in there and beat them. Not impossible, as upsets do happen, but not likely. Hopefully we can push them to 3 games.
A bit of irony, the Vols baseball stadium is named after Tenn Grad Lindsey Nelson, who older ND fans remember as the voice of the Syndicated Notre Dame football games many of us watched faithfully on Sunday. He did it for 14 years.
The Vols great advantage is pitching. For whatever reason there aren't many teams I've seen with two dominant starters, much less three. They are also blessed with a powerful offense. As you said Terry, never say never, but its going to be tough to make it to Omaha going through Knoxville.
