Paul Manieri coached Air Force before he came to ND and took them to the CWS. Maybe Air Force is the cradle of college baseball coaches?
Listening to ESPNU on my drive to Mississippi, they talked about the Vols maybe being the best college baseball team in a very long time. Awesome arms, one clocking 100 mph on the radar and old school gorilla ball/bat's But their coach has been suspended for 4 games for bumping an umpire.
Phew... The Aggies take the series from #4 Arkansas with an 11-10 win today. Our lacking bullpen reared its ugly head as the Aggies we're leading 8-1 after 6. Then things got a lot more interesting. The boys in maroon managed to add just enough runs to hold on as the "relief" pitchers lobbed up taters. I'll take any series win no matter how it happened.
I had heard that some news was coming from that committee but didn't know what it would entail. Is this to head off some effects of NIL on baseball?
You guys are depressing me with all the "death of football" threads... so I'm going to post something positive! The Aggies have gone from outlier bubble team, to possibly hosting a regional in the last month. Considering the roster turnover the new coach had to deal with, I couldn't be more pleased. If the #2 starter can get out of his current funk and return to early season form, this team will be very formidable in the post season.
Chapman used to throw 102-105. Now he throw's 97-98. And he has broken down the last two years. He throws 70% off speed stuff now.
Carolina tries a different strategy this weekend against the Aggies. Starting their pitching in reverse order: 3-2-1 vs Ags 1-2-3. Not working out so well - USC is going to their 5th pitcher in the 8th trailing 16-4...
Yep... that happens sometimes. I love that this team is TOTALLY different from the Childress MO. They are AGRESSIVE on the bases, and do lots of hit and run. Puts a ton of pressure on the opponent's defense, but sometimes it doesn't go your way. Nice play by Cocks on that one.
