My understanding about Holtz is that he took his self out of consideration for the Auburn job.

I also heard some rumors that other people took themselves out of consideration for the Auburn job because they might have that guy Lowder looking over their shoulder.

But glad they got a coach.

I have heard the same thing that Lowder was toxic to the guys who they were interviewing.

Brady Hoke the Ball State coach took the San Diego State job. While he had a great season this year, before that he was pretty ordinary at Ball State. But then maybe it was a job that took a long time to get back to being competitive. Even with a 12-1 record he was below .500 for his career at Ball State.

Today's paper has an article stating Bucs DC Monte Kiffen confirmed on Sunday that he is resigning at the end of the NFL season to accept the DC job at Tennessee.

And BTW, Monte Kiffen states for the record that he hasn't called any recruits, yet.

Monte Kiffin is an NFL legend for sure, question is will all the stuff he does translate into college football, or will he have to leave out a bunch of stuff because he doesn't have veteran NFL players and 40+ hours a week to work on the defense. Bet he won't like recruiting either, but I'm assuming his son does love recruiting and will cover the road for his dad.

I see that Mullin is not going to call the plays for the Gators, not suprising though since he really won't be around enough to be in the flow of things. But if the Gators lose you'll always wonder what would have been different if the staff had been together through the bowl game just like the regular season. OU will have their full staff for the the bowl, a slight advantage if you ask me.

Also I saw Charles Barkley really went off on Auburn over not hiring Turner Gill and instead going with Chizik. I wonder if Gills very outward fundamentalist Christian views hurt him with Auburn. It would seem to me that Gill just might have given them a counter with Black players to Saban in the recruiting battles. Not much, I think Black players, just like white players, want to go some place to win and get better so they can play in the NFL. I did read some on Auburn boards and Chizik is not a popular hire, I think Gill would have been well recieved by Auburn fans.

Corey will have to give us some local insight to the Auburn situation.

Yeh, it will be inetersting to see the impact of Mullen's departure on the preparation for the FedEx BCS game and the playcalling therein. IMO, it can't be accretive ..... but how much of an impact will it be?

On a realted note, I've heard three people one could characterize as "connected" to the UF program ..... opine that Mullen's departure should increase the likelihood Tebow will stay at UF for his senior season. There are also "rumors" that Spikes is staying and that harvin is considering it. I think Harvin goes and he should.

I just don't see that being a factor for a school located in Alabama. I do wonder why they would have hired Chizik though. It seems to me that there were a lot of good alternatives out there including Gill.

Gill's fundamentalist background would actually help him in Alabama.

The Auburn camp is broken into 2 sects:

    1. The cult of Tubesteak
    2. Those who think the new guy sucks

Well, this afternoon, future ND coach Urban Meyer said that Dan Mullen will be on the UF staff for the FedEx BCS game:

Tebow said he won't be calling the plays, is there some rift between Mullen and Tebow?

That's been implied by a few people but I've never heard anything from Tebow to indicate there is.

Ah, this is where the Tebow and Mullen question was.

Mullen will be calling signals in the Championship game and I've pretty much heard the same thing Gaterz said, there doesn't seem to be much to it.

I agree with Bill, I don't think there is any big issue re TT and Dan Mullen. With Mullen going, I'm more interested in who the next OC will be. Current UF WR coach, and excellent recruiter, Billy Gonzalez has been mentioned as the guy .... and also rumored to be talking to Lane Kiffin at UT, just in case the UF promotion doesn't come through.

Ga. Tech renegotiated Paul Johnsons contract, nobody is talking details. He was making 1.6M/year. I don't know why they did this he has the same record as Tyrone Willingham did at ND after 1 year and Tyrone didn't get a new contract. Clearly he's getting this because he's white.
