He was a heck of a player and has had a great start to his coaching career. If anybody can turn the Neb program around it's Scott Frost and you know he'll get all the support from both the fans and the school that he needs.

I really think that's what is missing at Nebraska. A lot of things happened in Lincoln because Dr Tom said so. I think Frost will command that type of respect. Bo wasn't a bad coach, he was just bat **** crazy. Riley isn't a bad coach, I think he's just a bad cultural fit. That NFL dude was just a bad idea all the way around.

I was talking to some Bama friends about Frost to Nebraska and they compared him to a lot of former Bear players who coached at Alabama in various capacities. I don't think it will be the same because unlike a lot of those guys who just stayed in the shade of the Bear tree, Frost went out and did his own thing and has his own success.

Well it's official, Herman Edwards is the Arz.State HC. I wish him well, he seems like a truly good guy. But he's been away from coaching and never really coached in college, so it does seem like a big risk for both parties.

But heck Bob Davie made it back at New Mexico after a long layoff from coaching.

Looks like Malzahn not going to Arkansas after all.

Interesting approach that Arz. State is going to take towards football. They are essentially going on an NFL model, they will have a GM type of AD for football only. It actually makes sense to me, Football is so important to most schools athletic success, it pays the bills for most if not all the other sports. So why not give it full time attention of a GM.

Let another AD keep track of all the other sports.

I wonder what football as a sport is going to look like in the future? Something has to be done about concussions. :?

Tell me about it, the Texans barely had enough players to finish the game yesterday vs the Titans.

There is a new helmet that is on the market that is interesting and some Irish players tested it this fall. It was well received and the Irish are buying them for the team for next year. Some NFL teams are going to it as well. They aren't cheap cost is 1500$ each.

I've read somewhere that others are working on helmet technology as well. I doubt if anything can completely eliminate concussions, but it sure would be nice to reduce them significantly. Kids still lead with their heads though and that's one of the problems. I know I've read where coaches are trying to teach them to tackle and run with their heads up and all but it's not working.

Actually Terry the rules and coaching ARE making a big difference.
I've been watching a lot of old games from the 80's and early 90's. Those guys truly did lead with their heads on almost every play.
Football is a game of collisions so there will always be bad hits, but almost all of them today are unintentional.

New equipment advances are what will allow the game to continue...

The air in Lincoln is electric. There is 100% support/relief/excitement.

Yesterday's presser had this little gem of a quote:

When asked if it'll take time for his team and offense to adjust to the B1G....Coach replied, "I'm hoping they'll be adjusting to us."

Apparently this wasn't a done deal as early as we thought. As of last Friday, he still hadn't made a decision. Evidently he was on a lengthy phone call with Dr. Tom that helped in the process.

One of his good friends Matt Davison (1997 MO Flea Kicker fame) was reportedly pestering him for the last 2 months to take the job also.

And on that note, I watched that game in Omaha with Murray Tristch, James Browning, and the old boy who was on the original Prodigy boards. Anybody remember his name? I remeber Murray drinking Schlitz...and a lot of it. That old schooler could pound 'em.

Yeah I do remember an older gentleman who would come and go on the boards from Prodigy, wasn't he up in Minnesota in some sort of assisted living? I remember he had a lot of computer problems.

    Hey,

I try to get Alabama fans to post here all the time. I tell them it's a cool place where you may have your beliefs challenged, but you may learn something new about your own program at the same time. Also, I'd rank the character of our little board here as #1 on the internet hands down.

I've been working on some Georgia fans as well. At least one of them will spend ALL HIS TIME arguing with Mike, but it will be entertaining. :)
