Hey, to my credit, I wanted Mora fired AFTER the win against A&M. :D

I dunno, it's just kinda funny as a Pac12 fan when you ride out the season. All you hear about is the superior coaching in the SEC, Big10 etc.... then when these gurus get **** canned, it becomes 'oh my God, we gotta get Peterson or Taggart or Leach!!'

I kinda like it that we play so late that half of America doesn't know anything about us. I mean, if anyone was actually paying attention they'd know that one of the best DCs in the game is a young guy up at Wazzu....and we think we have to put up with a lot of crap at our jobs, how would you like to be the Grinch?

Wazzu 4th and 6 on their own 35. The team is thinking 'great, flip the field and maybe our tenacious defense forces a turnover?!'

The pirate "that's a real short 6 yards, I'd put it at closer to 5. Let's go for it!"

There's a lot of doubters. Don't count me as one of them.

One of the great recruiting pipelines out of California was Nebraska. They've gotten away from that, I'd bet that would return.

My guys have been saying for weeks there is already a deal with Fisher.
The biggest "confirmation" I see is the fact A&M has made no move to even check into any other candidates...

If its not Jimbo then there will be some major scrambling in College Station.

I see that Dan Mullen has brought Todd Grantham with him to UF. Good move.

There is a lot of talk on Texas boards that Tom Herman needs to axe Tim Beck his OCoord. Our offense did stink this year for the most part. Whether that is on Beck or just the talent not really a good fit for the Herman offense and relying on a mistake prone wunderkid at QB too much.

I wonder if Jimbo will retain Chavis as the DCoord if he comes. Didn't they work together at LSU? It would seem like a good move if he did.

Also anybody know why Brent Venables never seems to get any action on HC jobs? He's been a top flight DCoord at both OU and now Clemson.

Down in Arkansas, fans who aren't holding a candle for the Gus Bus are secretly hoping that they land Venables..

    FWIW...

I wouldn't have guessed this, ever, but Mullin left behind a #10 rated recruiting class for 2018 ...well at least right now. It's number 10 partly because it's very large and the way these things get ranked larger classes build up more points even if they don't have any 5 stars. MSU has only 5 4* kids the rest are 3 stars but there are a ton of them. Which tells you the dude is out there working it. At UF he'll be working with a different level of kid.

Terry, that is what I was talking about earlier. Mullins had one recruiting arm tied behind his back at Miss St. He won't have that problem at Florida.

If he learned nothing from Urban Meyer, it's that in recruiting you need to be relentless. So I'll expect he'll do well at UF.

You guys talking about Florida in a generic topic ( Coaching Moves )...

    Is that ok? :)

Mullen indeed has been hitting the trail already.... having visited in home with the number one rated dual threat Qb Justin Fields up in Ga.

Gator fans hope that he can retain most of what was already a great class and turn it in to something special with recruits of his own.

I think he can and will.

One problem though is he is going after dual threat Qbs and the highest rated recruit in the class so far is drop back Qb Matt Corral who is said to be wavering on his commitment.

Well Pro Style QB isn't the type of QB that fits his offense. His offense has been good when he's got a dual threat type of QB. So if that Corral kid can't be a credible threat running the football he probably should reconsider. I can't see Mullen changing to a Pro Style offense.

One thing about Feliepe Franks.... UF's much maligned redshirt freshman Qb.. the kid has a very good arm.... and sometimes like in the 75 yard run vs. Texas A&M the kid can run.

But he lacks Qb presence of mind.... can't see open receivers and can't make decisions.

He single-handedly gave FSU the W last Sat.

So.... I'm all for whoever Mullen can bring in that fits his style of ball.

And yes that might not be Matt Corral.

yes Dave, it's okay. it's an open thread.

what's not okay is to go to a thread called 'Chip Kelly to UCLA' and Gator the place up....

    Terry
He's already pissed a few folks off back at Miss State because he's been recruiting some of his top targets from there. I believe they already have one decommit at Miss State.

Here's a thought. If Jimbo jumps ship for A&M and FSU goes after Taggert and gets him....would Scott Frost prefer a return to Neb or to Oregon?

As far as Mullen ticking off people for going after some kids he recruited to MSU, I doubt if he loses any sleep over it. It's football recruiting, be relentless and don't be shy about going after supposedly committed kids. Everybody does it in todays recruiting world. That's why I wonder about the Dec 20-22 early signing period, if most of the verbals across the country sign it's going to put a serious dent in the poaching of committed kids!

I don't think he loses a bit of sleep over it. The new guy at Miss State is getting the mojo going when he started the 1st player meeting by asking the kids if they knew what their ring size was, and if they don't know, they better figure it out.

Sounds like a lot of fun down the road.

LOL....I wonder what Moorheads answer will be in a few years when some kid asks him...Hey coach I've been keeping my ring size, but when do I get a ring?

His answer would probably be, 'what have you done to win one?'

Even with Mullen, there was an acceptance that Miss State was 2nd tier. Moorehead appears to be trying to change that. Can't fault a guy for being competitive.

And there's always the chance that they do win the west at least once under him. It's not like Alabama wins it every year and the Gus Bus move to Arkansas has disaster written ALL OVER IT. Sounds like there's potential for a good old fashioned power vacuum.

It's day 1 of the new job, he's entitled to his enthusiasm, don't worry reality will set in soon enough.
