Sweet, okay. If that's the position we are taking and that is how life is going to be then: 1. JoePa loses his wins 2. Rape State finishes out their original probation. 3. Rape State pays every dime of the money owed.. It's pretty clear that JoePa knew of Sandusky's 'peculiarity' going back for a long time. I guess it all gets down to how credible McQueery is. As Bobda mentioned, Schiano was bus chucked by self-serving double hearsay that was only mentioned once McQ needed someone's work beyond his own. Also, this means we will roust out every coach that coached for Joe Pa (especially guys like Bradley) going back to the early 80s.
Just to clarify, my posts re Schiano were not meant to attack Tom. Met both Cindy and Ton in Kansas City at AJ's SB gathering and have read their posts for years. I have a great deal of respect for both. What I objected to were those who constructed a twitter hit job claiming that Schiano covered up child rape based on the deposition statement of someone with documented credibility issues who had the opportunity to stop the assault he witnessed but did nothing. Also, the statement was double hearsay that was denied under oath by Bradley and in a public statement by Schiano and, from what I read, was not allowed into evidence at a civil trial because of being inadmissable hearsay. Basically, you have a situation where A claimed that B told him that C told B that C saw X molest a child. B and C deny making such statements and none of the multiple victims of X have ever implicated B or C in any of X's wrongdoings. Add to the mix A having alleged alcohol and gambling issues, that he was involved in a civil suit that made it in his financial self interest to drag B and C into it, that A never discussed his allegations with B and C and later went to golf outings sponsored by X after he watched X molest a child. Given all that, I not inclined to accept what A is saying as convincing proof that B and C covered up child rape. Kind of wish we had the English system of libel that puts the burden on the accuser to prove what he claimed is a fact is indeed a fact. If we did, there would be a lot of people closing their social media account and writing chechs to people they defamed.
AJ, I agree I would have been satisfied with Frost.... but he has reservations as i mentioned that Mullen doesn't have with regard to SEC experience. Otherwise he has done one hell of a job at UCF and he should be a great hire for Nebraska.
Money on Mullen: ( from Gatorsports ) "New Florida coach Dan Mullen will receive a contract worth $6 million a year for six years, putting him among the highest paid coaches in college football, The Sun has learned. Mullen had a deal at Mississippi State that ran through 2021 and paid him $4.5 million a year. Florida also got off cheap on Mullen’s buyout from Mississippi State, only having to pay $500,000. This year already, college football coaches have been fired to the tune of more than $60 million in buyouts. Mullen replaced former UF coach Jim McElwain, who was fired Oct. 29 and making $4.5 million a year. Alabama’s Nick Saban is the highest paid coach in college football at just over $11 million a year."
There is a risk every time a coach who is very successful at a lower level moves up to the next level. Urban Meyer was the classic case of a guy who made the leap and succeeded. Jim Tressel was another one who made the leap and was successful. But the coaching graveyard is littered with guys who were very successful MAC, or WAC, or MWC, or CUSA or somewhere other than a Power 5 school and failed when the moved up. We don't know about Tom Herman, Kevin Sumlin was sort of successful, and so has Brian Kelly but neither enough to satisfy the fans. Who will Scott Frost be most like, Urban Meyer or Kevin Sumlin?
That's a good question.... and you don't really know until he has stepped up. With Mullen we know that he developed fantastic QB play in the SEC against SEC defenses and took his teams to bowl games without having the access to talent that he will have at Florida. It stands to reason that with better talent overall he might just achieve even more in the SEC. Maybe Frost would have been fantastic... and it sounds like he had a shot but it also sounds like he couldn't act on it when Florida came calling. His heart must be big and red...
uh oh....Schiano might be coming after the Vols for some $$ He hasn't , bu this article seems to indicate that he might have a case. Although if he ever wants to be a HC again, he might want to not do it. https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/11/26/greg-schiano-tennessee-volunteers-memorandum-understanding
Don is Schiano coming back to Ohio State and continue on as the DCoord now that all of this has hit the fan?
1. Ditto what Bobda said 2. Scott Frost will be like Scott Frost and unlike a lot of guys who have tried to run the big red engine, Scott Frost knows Nebraska. He'll do Nebraska things, Nebraska ways. There isn't a kid or booster who can tell him **** about what it's like to give their all for Big Red. If Nebraska lands Frost, some of y'all need to start worrying.
It seems more and more that Jimbo to Texas A&M has some real legs, apparently Jimbo has problems with the Boosters and specifically with the President of the Boosters. And reportedly Willie Taggert is now their top target to replace Fisher. That'd be a kick in the nuts to Phil Knight and Oregon.
Well a lot of Power 5 programs do look at the Group of 5 teams that are doing well for their up and comers....ergo that's why you look at the Pac12.
Tell me again who stole Mora?? j/k!! I don't believe the PAC sux, or is an inferior league at all. Their elite teams may not make the playoff this year, but that's a function of how it was set up... somebody is going to get left out. If the PAc would play a little earlier I'd actually watch all of the games instead of just the first half!
