So Urban will wind up with co-coordinators again? How does this guy do it? Either way, that's a big get for Ohio State. I really liked the Grinch defense at Wazzu this year.

Corey, I think Urban simply plans ahead and has an ongoing list of possible coaches he wants. When the opportunity or vacancy opens, he is way ahead of the game and strikes quickly, Upcoming coaches can use Ohio State as a stepping stone and so it works well from their point of view to improve their resume.

    Don,

Oh, I get it. It just seems amazing to me that Urban is consistently stocked up with both players and coaches. Even at Alabama, you don't see the stock piling of coaching talent. Urban just seems to keep every cupboard full and I find that amazing how he does it.

Every good coach does the same. I'm certain Brian Kelly has a list of DCs he would interview if Elko should leave. Wait! He left. Where's that list? :D

A couple of interesting moves..... The Houston Cougars picked up a couple of former Baylor coaches in Kendall Briles who will be the new OCoord and Randy Clements who was the OL coach at Baylor and will be the same at Houston. Both were on Lane Kiffin's staff at FAU last season. Art Briles remains unemployed. Both are potentially excellent moves for Major Applewhite and the Cougars.

<t>Looks like it will be Lea as next DC and I like it if true. As a matter of fact I like it a lot. I may have to eat my words later but to me it makes a lot of sense in several ways. If Elston stays it will be even better.</t>

Yeah, Lea is going to keep that same defense and terminology. That's nice because we can actually build for once, instead of rebuilding from scratch.

I am still trying to wrap my head around Kendall Briles and the FAU OL coach bailing on Lane Kiffin to go to Univ of Houston. They were a part of a hugely successful year for FAU . It's not like Univ of Houston is flush with money to pay big salaries.

Elston has been promoted to Associate Head Coach meaning he'll have to take the press conferences and meetings with alumni groups that Kelly doesn't want to take.

The most crushing blow to date since Jan. 1. Harry Hiestand, Offensive Line Coach, leaving for the Chicago Bears.

    That one REALLY hurts.

I am blindsided by this move. I don't really understand it either, I mean the Bears are a losing organization not as bad as Cleveland but they are bad. Since he once coached for the Bears I guess maybe this is a move to secure an NFL pension. Also OL coaches in the NFL do make a lot more money than college OL coaches.

I wonder if Kelly was blindsided.

The guy from BC is being rumored as a replacement. That's a good get.

I have a hard time getting excited or upset with position coaching hires. How do you know how good a position coach is at a certain school unless you also factor in the Head Coach input, the overall recruiting effectiveness and the general attitude of the team? I have a feeling that the recruiting ability of these guys may be the best measure of their value to the team, but then again I just don't know. I just trust the judgement of the Head Coach and the the coordinators. :?

Don, Seniorchief Rogers can never run for elected office. Seriously, I have no idea who the offensive line coach is at Boston College, therefore I have no idea whether he would be better or worse than the offensive line coach at North Texas State. I am really impressed with the folks that have that depth of knowledge. :)

kp... That school no longer exists.
They insist you use the correct name:
    University of North Texas.

    FIGHT! UNT! FIGHT!
