Local news spreading rumor that M has offered Harbaugh megabucks and the UP. (actually 6 yrs. 48 mil. )
He seems to like snow so maybe adding the UP as a sweetner to the 48 million ( ) might be tempting for him.
If Harbaugh does end up at Michigan with that salary, something tells me Saban and Meyer will enjoy with some hefty pay increases as well?
Dog park in Milwaukee in Dec, do they have heated enclosures for the owners to keep them warm while the dogs frolic?
If he can't accept this job offer at his alma mater it is hard to see Jim Harbaugh ever returning to the college ranks: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/24898198/reports-michigan-makes-6-year-48-million-offer-to-harbaugh
I honestly don't believe Michigan is in much of a position to negotiate. They need to pay whatever it takes to get the right guy here. If there are some who wince at the dollar amount, maybe toss in some performance based incentive to the dollars, but this is probably the closest thing to Bo that they are going to get without digging the old boy up... in my opinion.
I agree Corey. I personally know some Michigan fans very well of course and this is THE guy. Anyone else at this point will be very disappointing.
Harbaugh has scheduled a Press Conference this afternoon. If it goes like this, then it's a lock that he's going to Ann Arbor! DAVIE, Fla. -- Nick Saban says he doesn't browse the Internet, never sends e-mails or surfs from site to site. He might have to start soon, if only to follow the persistent rumors about him and his future. A story posted on NFL.com this week said Alabama "keeps on making runs at Saban" in an effort to persuade the Miami Dolphins coach to return to college and take over in Tuscaloosa for fired Mike Shula. The same story even said an unnamed NFL head coach said Saban is getting closer to joining the Crimson Tide. So on Thursday, Saban -- who has tried to denounce the story about him potentially going to Alabama numerous times in recent weeks -- again, and adamantly, denied that he's headed back to the college ranks. "I guess I have to say it," Saban said. "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach." When the stories linking Alabama and Saban began circulating last month, almost immediately after Shula got fired following a 6-6 season, the former coach at Louisiana State said he was flattered but not interested. He's bristled at nearly every suggestion about him leaving the Dolphins since. "I don't know how many times I've got to respond to rumor and innuendo," Saban said. "I have no control over that. I've stated what my intentions are and they really haven't changed, so I don't know what the issue is. And I don't know why people keep asking about it. What they talk about over there is their business. But what's happening here is my business and our business, and that's what we're focused on."
AJ: LOL!! TOK: No shed. Just Wisconsin dogs and owners toughing it out on the frozen tundra. Corey: Zombie Bo as head coach? I kinda like that idea.
Um... it's been a while Bob... not sure the old fella is still gonna be so good at the weekly pressers.
It's been thought for a while that our OL was living on "Mike Sherman" time. As we've gone forward they have actually regressed, instead of getting better. Sure wish there was a way to get Sherman back. He may not be a great head coach, but he can create an OL from nothing, and when he gets talent, he makes them damned good (all those first rounders we've had were Sherman guys). I won't be surprised if we bring in a new WR coach who will be Co-offensive coord, along with the new OL coach and DC.
Terry, Harbaugh didn't have to start answering this question quite as early as Saban did. Harbaugh has handled this better...he just refuses to talk about it at all. I think what Saban was trying to do was to not abandon his current team in the middle of the season. That tactic didn't work and his image suffered for it. If he had answered the question honestly, he would have left the Dolphins players hanging. Harbaugh has it right and I think Saban learned his lesson too.
I agree with KP entirely on that.. the media had him over a barrel and there was just no right or wrong way to handle it other than 'kiss my ass I'm not talking to you.' For as tough as Saban is, and can be, I don't think he perfected the art of telling the media to kiss his ass until he got to Alabama. It's one of the few things he needed to improve on. Harbaugh is a born douchebag and I don't mind saying I wish he were our coach. I know that's an unpopular opinion among some ND fans. The guy is a ruthless, consummate teacher and he gives not one rat's ass what anyone thinks. He's a walking embodiment of a Bo Michigan man and he reminds me so much of Bo that it's scary. His answer to teams loading the box to stop the run is 'obviously, we don't have enough guys blocking.' At the same time, he will go vertical on you. The play action pass was the cornerstone of his arsenal as a player and he carried that forward as a coach. He offered nothing but effusive praise for Carroll and USC when no one could beat them, all the while scheming to be the linchpin over their undoing. Stanford was never USC's rival, but he made them the thorn in their side that eventually became their spear of destiny. He took pot shots at his own alma mater and that ruffled some feathers, but he wasn't wrong and he stood by his word. If BK walked to the NFL tomorrow, my list would start and end with Jim Harbaugh. Everything that we clamor for as a fan base on all sides is something that Harbaugh has proven he can do at this level at programs that do not have the same advantages as Notre Dame. I would be genuinely concerned if he were to be given the advantages of a Michigan...
I agree with your entire post on Harbaugh. He's a jock first....coach second. He was a cocky arrogant leader at Michigan and a winner. He "guaranteed" that UM would beat OSU for the Rose Bowl.... and he delivered.... with me in attendance at the Shoe in 1986. His dad is/was Jack Harbaugh..... a Bo disciple for many years. With the tradition and resources of Michigan Urban should stock up on those heartburn pills if Harbaugh is hired.
Pat Narduzzi to Pitt. A good move for him as I think the Pitt job is one where a guy can get some good experience as a HC and move on to an elite job should they want. I don't think any more it's a destination...stepping stone job instead.
