Well, the SEC West may be more entertaining than the Real Housewives of Whatever this year.:(

I read someplace he was making like 200K at YSU, but then there was the Neb buyout. I wonder what Nebraska has been paying him to supplement that, and have they finished paying him. So if he's done getting money from NU, then that 2 million a year to go to LSU looks pretty good. Plus gets him back into prime time. You can bet that he'll be followed closely by the media. I hope he's learned his lesson with regards to outbursts on the sideline.

FWIW, his son Patrick is a Jr. walk-on at Notre Dame. So that means Bo is paying the full tuition for him, around 70K a year. He won't sweat that now that he's making 2M/year. :p

Considering Coach O is the orator of 'Roll Tide, what? F** you!' I am pretty sure Bo's outbursts are the least of their concerns :)

It wouldn't have been a surprise back in late Nov or early Dec. There were rumors that he was going to step down. But he doubled down on his commitment to coach MSU as a response to the rumors. It would have served them better if he had resigned then, at this point they are going to be stuck somewhat in a coaching search to replace him. He had a good run at MSU, had good fundamentally sound football teams that were built without a lot of highly ranked players.

Maybe he can relax and smile now. :D

The decision to step down comes at an interesting time. Dantonio is the subject of a lawsuit filed against the school by former Spartans staffer Curtis Blackwell, who is seeking more than $5 million in damages for wrongful termination. In the complaint, Blackwell alleges that Dantonio committed multiple NCAA recruiting violations. Among the allegations are that Dantonio orchestrated employment for the parents of two Michigan State football players with the school's mega-donor Bob Skandalaris. Additionally, the suit claims Blackwell accompanied Dantonio on an in-home visit for a five-star recruit when Blackwell wasn't authorized to conduct an off-campus visit.

Dantonio is serving as a witness in the case, and refuted these allegations in a Jan. 10 deposition. Lawyers for Dantonio have called the allegations "not only false, but totally gratuitous."

Looks like Michigan States' top mark is Luke Fickell , current University of Cincinnati coach or Pat Narduzzi at Pittsburgh (36-29) and a former defensive coach for Dantonio

Michigan State is an interesting job, they have made the CFP, but they are in the same division as Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State all of which have more potential in terms of recruiting and building a really talented squad.

Can a guy like Luke Fickell come in and change that dynamic and make them regularily be the equal of the other 3 big programs? If they were in the Big 10 West, it's be a great job.

Rumors rampant this morning that Luke Fickell will be hired as the 25th head football coach at MSU. Trustees will meet for a special meeting Friday the 14th and a press conference would be held shortly thereafter. Contract would be a five year 25 million deal with addition incentives. MSU would also pay Cincinnati 2 Million on his buyout agreement with the the university. Sounds very plausible to me!

Good Choice by MSU, he certainly has done a good job at UC, and he's very familar with the Big 10 and recruiting for the Big 10.

Detroit Free Press says Fickell has turned down the offer to be the head coach at MSU this morning. After talking with the AD at Cincinnati, Fickell says he is going to remain at the University of Cincinnati.

That's a big surprise, I wonder why. MSU as a Power 5 job, where you can win, not like Ohio State but you can win there has to be a upgrade from UC if in no other area than Salary and facilities.

Don do you know anything about Mike Tressel? I've heard he might end up getting the MSU job. What is his relationship to JT?

Terry, I am not familiar with Mike Tressel and therefore can not be of much help with any real info. I am pretty sure Fickell's tie to his family and Cincinnati overrode the big bucks at MSU. I really do not think he would have been happy at MSU.
