Former Gator coach Jim McElwain the leading candidate?

If Tim Couch had any kids they would be about the right age if they were QB's! He'll need some of those Frisby catching WR's as well. I imagine that as I write he is scanning the waiver wire we now call the Portal and checking out JUCO QB's.

    Think this is true?

Leach's new job also comes with an immediate, if not unusual, home-field advantage.

Earlier this season, Leach, as part of college football's 150th anniversary celebration, was asked what was the worst visitors locker room that he's ever been in. Without hesitation, he answered: "Mississippi State."

He described a locker room in which the walls, floor and ceiling were all concrete, and "there was no furniture, there was no benches, there was no lockers." In addition to 37 nails in the wall, Leach said there were two toilets, side by side and without seats, in the middle of the locker room. Between them: one roll of toilet paper.

"My heart swelled with pride," Leach said. "... The ultimate touch of brilliance."

    Doc,

Starvegas might as well be 3,000 miles from the Keys, it's a BBQ sauce covered shithole..

But, with that being said, I see you're coming around to my way of thinking. It's never about whether it will work out for these guys, it's all about the crash. :) SEC Media days just got a lot more fun. Kiffin has never been shy about tweeking people. Leach has never been one to pull any punches. They're now rivals. You've got 'Da Coach O' in the division. Hell, Jimbo's goofy country ass just became one of the '3 wise men of the SEC West.' This should be a LOT of fun.

Something that will be interesting to me, is that the state of MS produced a per capita ton of NFL talent. They really do a good job of producing DLs, LBs and RBs. Those are 3 things that I'm not sure Leach is used to having and they're just gonna fall in his lap being at State.

Perhaps my best friend, aside from my wife of course, since I moved to Alabama is a State alumni who has been trying for nearly 2 decades to get me to go to a State game. I may have to take him up on that offer, finally. :)

Take some earplugs Corey... those cowbells may be music to their fans, but to the rest of the world they are at best, "ANNOYING ********!"

Agree, that's perhaps the single biggest reason that I haven't taken him up on any of his offers. That, and I'd rather be on my couch than Starkvegas :)

It's begun. Yesterday, Finebaum tweeted a question asking which hire would look better after year 3, Kiffin or Leach? Kiffin responded saying "Leach!!!"

Matt Rhule reportedly interested in Joe Brady. Going to be tough to keep him at LSU

Da Coach O has already said he's willing to pay big NFL type money to keep Brady. That will be an interesting development for sure.

Where is Coach O gonna get NFL money?
Lousyanna is not exactly running in the black right now and unlike Texas, the state does pay the coach's salaries there.

There probably is still several million dollars left in Huey Long’s ‘deduct box’ that they can use.

they'll find it. They manage to find enough resources to compete for a NC a lot more frequently than Texas does.

I was stunned that Leach took the Miss State job.

    Interesting to say the least.

Washington State hired the Hawaii coach, Nick Rolovich. He isn't an Air Raid guy, but he does run a high powered passing attack so he'll fit in with the talent on hand in Pullman.

Baylor still hasn't filled their slot, not sure if they have interviewed anybody or where they are going ...internal promotion or bring in a hot Coord or HC from the Group of 5 like they did with Rhule.

Still lots of coaching moves at the Coord level and Asst's going on though.

Longhorns poached one of Coach Boom's boys from So.Carolina...Coleman Hutzler will be Co-Defensive Coordinator with Chris Ash and coach LB's. I think he was with the Gators when Muschamp was the coach there as well. I'm a tad surprised that he's the Co-Coord with Chris Ash, but it's probably a money move, Ash probably still the man in charge of the Defense.

Bobby Petrino to Missouri State. He's only 58 so it might be that he needs the money as well as scrub his reputation clean.

Justin Fuente took his name out of the Baylor search. I don't even know why he was considering it...Baylor had a great season sure, but they aren't a program that has more money, higher upside, etc than Va.Tech.

Born March 10, 1961 Lewistown Montana...do the math.

He's been coaching a long time though...got his first gig in 1983 as a GA when he was only 22 years old, was the OC at Auburn in 2002 when he was 41 years old. He's been a coach for 36 years and his name has been high profile for 20 years.
