So we have Norvell to FSU, Kiffin to Ole Miss. There are still a lot slots out there to fill. Those 2 moves just shuffle the openings, taking Ole Miss and FSU off the board and putting FAU and Memphis on the board. Clemson OCoord, Jeff Scott has taken the USF job. He will work 2 jobs, staying with Clemson and working the new job at USF. It's been done a lot of times before. Kiffin was the FAU head coach and the Bama OCoord, but Saban fired him before the CFP Championship game. Tom Herman had taken the Houston job and stayed on at OSU during their run to the Nat'l Championship. Sam Pittman, a former assistant coach at Arkansas, will be the next head football coach for the Razorbacks, the school announced Sunday. Pittman was the assistant head coach, offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Arkansas from 2013–15 before joining Kirby Smart at Georgia. Most recently, Pittman had been the associate head coach and offensive line coach at Georgia and he is considered one of the best recruiters and offensive line coaches in the SEC. So that's 4 jobs filled, creating 2 new job openings, the carousel keeps spinning!
Eliah Drinkwitz has reached an agreement to become Missouri's next head football coach and a deal is being finalized, sources told ESPN. Drinkwitz guided Appalachian State to a 12-1 record and the Sun Belt Conference championship this season in his first year as a head coach. Sources said Missouri officials met with Drinkwitz in Boone, North Carolina, on Saturday night, hours after Appalachian State defeated Louisiana 45-38 in the Sun Belt championship game. Another hire that fills one job but creates another job. 2 years in a row that App State has had a Power 5 team hire away it's coach. Last year Scott Satterfield left for Louisville.
That's pretty funny! He's a big hit so far in Oxford! I see that he even had is ex-wife , Layla, with him at his press conference. She's still pretty hot stuff!
I heard he was nervous when told there would be a press conference on the Tarmac when he got off the Ole Miss Jet!
Steve Addazio recently fired at Boston College, hired at Colorado State. He's a good friend of Urban's having coached with him at ND and Fla, and Urban was a consultant for CSU.
Ducks OCoord Marcus Arroyo was hired by UNLV as their new HC. I hope he doesn't drive the program off the road into a ditch.
Willie Taggert to FAU? I wonder if he had one of those clauses where his FAU salary offsets the buyout money that FSU owes him? I read an article where they claim a lot of fired coaches take jobs as analysts for peanuts because their previous contract demands that they attempt to find employment and that new salary offsets what the old school has to pay out. So FAU might have gotten a bargin in Taggert.
Going off memory, but thought I had read they never actually had a contract completed, though his MOU (which should be binding) included an offset clause. There was a lot of loose, undefined language that is going to have to make it through the courts because the MOU was never followed up. Greatness right there Ralph!
Yeah the contract situation for Taggert and FSU is bound to be a bit of a mess. But since I haven't read or heard anything since the original report. This article says he signed and he's getting his money. Nothing since, nothing about Taggert suing FSU. If you google Taggert and lawsuit though there are several reports that former players of his at Oregon are suing him. I guess my point on this was that if Taggert is getting his 18M, he could certainly take a job at a place like FAU that isn't going to pay the big money anyway and give them a discount to seal the deal, and satisfy whatever covenants were in his FSU contract requiring him to get a job to offset the buyout.
Looks like Jeff Halfley our co defensive coach is taking the head coaching job at Boston College. A bright and great recruiter, is leaving after only one year Coach Day's staff.
