Lane Kiffin on the move? His name keeps popping up with regards to Arkansas. I wonder why, other than his 1st season at FAU he hasn't exactly turned them into a juggernaut.
Exactly what I've been saying. Someone will give him $3M a year and a $15M buyout and fire him in 3 years!
They are playing in the conference championship game this weekend..so there's that. I think the situation at Ole Miss could be different. We're in the day and age of the transfer portal. There's a clear open window for these kids now that wasn't there before....especially with so many of them citing the reason they attended Ole Miss is Luke and not the school.
I keep reading the rumours that James Franklin is the top choice for the FSU job. I read that he met with their search people and his salary demand was an issue, but they are still hoping to work something out. So now I don't know if this is his agent floating this out there to gain leverage for an extension/raise from PSU or what. I can't imagine Franklin actually interviewing for the job, if he did and I'm the PSU AD I'm pretty damn pissed about that. Plus PSU is a good gig, large fan base, I imagine they have all the facilities you need and they are very up to date. While the reason Jimbo left FSU was that they did not have great facilities and were dragging their feet on building them. So why would Franklin want to leave PSU for FSU?
Chris Ash is a name that keeps coming up with regards to Tom Herman's new DCoord. Still hope out there that Graham Harrell will have tired of the West Coast and want to come home to Texas.
So nobody really cares about the Coaching search at UTSA..but I found this to be interesting in terms of the future of football at UTSA. Update at UTSA - FootballScoop
I watched one of those 'following Penn State' programs. I think it might have been on HBO. Anyway, in it, there was an interview with Franklin. In that interview, he seemed to have one personal goal that wasn't totally involving Penn State. He said he wanted to become the first African-American head coach to win the National Title (I guess that just excuses HBCU's and lower division successes, but I digress). There was just something in the tone of it all. I could see Franklin leaving for something he thought was a better gig.
Interesting that it's "he'll return for 2020", seems like what they needed to do was announce an extension of his contract. What if he's 8-4 again next year?
hmmm I didn't know that USC was opening next season with Alabama at Jerry World. It'd be a miracle if he could beat Alabama to start the season.
Kes, That is what I found so interesting about the interview. I mean, why mention it unless you have some reservation?
Following up on JO'Co's observation that none of the good So.Cal Players are going to USC. From a poster on another board. Watching CFB Live and they said USC had only 11 commits in this 2020 class. none inside the ESPN Top 300 none inside the Top 25 in California! i couldn't believe what i heard....had to check myself currently the 70th rated class..... behind Army #60, Navy and Bowling Green tied #67 and just ahead of Memphis #71, W.Mich #72 and N. Illinois #73 11 commits (1-4 star, 8-3 star, 2-2 star) -7 OL -2 DT -1 WR 1 K Holy Smokes Tyrone Willingham would be ashamed of this class i hope they keep Clay Forever
I don't think the official announcement has been made yet, but the rumor is everywhere. There's a lot of speculation that someone in Kiff's camp leaked the info, but to do that is to underestimate just how bush league Ole Miss and their Admins are... either way, I think the potential for success is there for Kiffin. I think it would all get down to the staff he could assemble.
Schiano back to Rutgers. Here is a prime example of.a guy that has done nothing repeatedly getting opportunities to make big bucks at a the.college level. Does anyone know how much he is making and what his buyout will be?
