Feldman is reporting that Elko did interview for the Temple job but is staying at A&M, also that Manny Diaz interviewed for the job and is staying at Miami. The other thing he reported is that Michigan DCoord Don Brown also has interviewed for the job. No word on what direction Temple is going for at this point.
Interesting, is Day not a fan or does he like the guy you got from Washington State more...assuming that he would be elevated to DCoord.
Terry, Urban has too many close friends on board. Coach Day has an excellent chance to pick his own now. Yes, Grinch will move up in my opinion and we get rid of some very high salaries.
I see that Les Miles hired away Auburns Offensive Coordinator and that Gus then Hired the Memphis OCoord. I don't know enough about Chip Lindsey, the guy Les hired, to know if Les is going to bring his offense into the 21st century or will it be his old LSU offense that he brings with him. The guy Gus hired from Memphis has had some great offenses at Memphis. So with Stidham gone and Corey saying Auburn has a stud frosh QB for next year, we'll see what happens in Auburn. They really struggled this year on offense, which I didn't understand. Stidham is a terrific college QB.
Surprise...Manny Diaz to Temple. I'll be curious to hear Ralphs comments on this, I listen to a lot of ESPU on XM radio, the callers from Miami are not very supportive of Mark Richt right now and their recruiting isn't exactly great, he doesn't have a QB in the 2019 class.
Chip Lindsey is the guy who just cost Auburn Asa Martin because he can't count to 4. They misled the kid about playing time, and then screwed him out of a year of eligibility. I'd say that after this year, Auburn fans would be glad to see him go.
Tommy Tuberville interested in the Miami DCoord job now that Manny Diaz is officially the Temple HC. I guess he see's Les Miles and Mack Brown getting back into football and figures Why not me!
Things went wrong quickly for Richt , they were riding high after the beat down of the Irish last November . Since then it has been a struggle, they were ranked high to start the season but never got going after the LSU game. As I've mentioned recruiting has not gone well either. Miami fans calling in on ESPNU have been highly critical of his offense and his son being on the staff . He probably said enough its not fun and I don't need the money. By all reports he is a very good guy
Major Applewhite is a different story, by all reports he is not a nice guy. They look at UCF and wonder why not us. Story in today's Chronicle is that Dana Holgerson is their target, not sure where they will get the money for that type of hire. That beat down by Army was the last straw
Miami had a very highly ranked recruiting class going at one point but lost them in droves and dropped into the 30's after the early signing period. Things certainly went south for Richt in a hurry. We open with Miami in Orlando next season.
Well Miami hired Manny Diaz, sucks for Temple but makes a lot of sense and he seems like a great choice. Meanwhile over in Oxford Miss, they have hired 2 ex-HC as Coordinators. Mike MacIntyre as the DCoord and are going to hire Rich Rodriquez as the new OCoord. RR is a one trick pony so we can expect a new offense at Ole Miss that will feature a running QB. I don't know anything about MacIntryre as a Defensive guy.
Well according to an ESPN story Dana Holgerson will leave West Virginia for the Houston job. I'm a little surprised, I'm sure money was one factor but Houston really doesn't have the resources to pay a big salary, but with Billionaire Tillman Fertitta driving the bus maybe he's made a contribution. Houston has proved in the past that they have potential to be an annual 10 win school. Briles, Sumlin and Tom Herman were all very successful at Houston. The have nice facilities now, a new modern stadium on campus and a ton of football players within a 100 miles. Granted they won't get many players who could go to the Big time programs who recruit the area, but with the right effort and development they should be able to get as much if not more talent than their competitors in the AAC.
"Mark Richt has stepped down at #Miami. Where might the Canes go next?" Wait...what???? who gets the Turnover Chain for this one?
Opps, I started a new topic on Houston. Could merge if you like only I am not sure I know how to do that.
