Ah, they were 10-2 the year before. It seems a little weird to be putting the guy on the hot seat already.

    Things are moving fast now.

Louisville hired that App State coach, Scott Satterfield.
USC finalized hiring of Kliff Kingsbury as the OCoord.
Ohio State has elevated OCoord Ryan Day
UMass has hired Walt Bell from FSU, he came with Willie Taggert. Was the FSU OCoord.

    Akron has fired Terry Bowden.

Texas Tech has hired Utah State HC Matt Wells, they had a great year this year and on paper this seems like a home run hire for the Red Raiders. His offense is 2nd in the nation in scoring, but he also runs the football. He wants a good defense. It'll be interesting to see what he can do in the B12. One thing about the B12 is that beyond Texas and OU, the B12 is a very competitive conference only KU has been a true bottom dweller. OSU, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas State have all had their day in the sun.

One name that is not on the list is Eddie O.

After the loss to Troy last year, he was on the ropes. A lot of media and fans thought he was in over his head, that LSU needed to cut their losses and dump him after 1 year.

Well he had a pretty good 2nd year, finishing 9-3 and at #11. Could easily been in the top 10 and 10-2 if not for the camera catching Kellen Mond's knee on the turf. Just looking at what he's doing in recruiting, he's killing it, he's got 3 five star kids in this class and is ranked #4 in the 247 composite.

I'd say things are looking pretty solid now for Eddie O.

Mike Locksley is the new Maryland coach. I'm a little surprised given all that went on around the program under Durkin. Locksley, while squeaky clean under Nick Saban, had a bad history at New Mexico including punching an asst coach, sexual harassment accusation and some other stuff. Not to mention he was 2-26.

Did Matt Canada not put in for the job? They were doing fine with him at coach until they tried to bring Durkin back and that just derailed the whole season from there.

Matt Canada was under consideration. But Locksley, even though he has character issues from New Mexico, was the guy. Locksley is well known for being an excellent recruiter and has been at Maryland before and reportedly has lots of great contacts in the Mid Atlantic States and the DC/Baltimore area to juice up recruiting for the Terrapins.

Mel Tucker is leaving Georgia for the HC job at Colorado. That's a job that has potential, and I see that he will not be coaching the Dawgs in the Sugar Bowl. Not really a big surprise, I'm sure he want's to get off to a good start and get his staff together and with the early signing date coming Dec 19th wants to look at all the kids that have been committed to Colorado before McIntrye was let go and make sure those that are going to sign Dec 19 don't back out because they haven't met him.

Colorado currently sits at #44 in the 247 composite and with the #7 ranked class in the Pac 12. 16 kids, only 1 4 star with the rest 3 stars. Won't be the same level of talent he's been working with at Georgia that's for sure.

This is a little bit of good news for the Longhorns though, as the Dawgs will be down a man, but I'm sure Kirby Smart knows a thing or two about being a DCoord and calling the defense. If they had made the playoffs he probably would have tried to do 2 jobs. Who knows maybe that was a condition of the employment, come now and focus 100% on Colorado or don't come at all.

Former Gator HC Jim McElwain who spent the year at Michigan as a WR coach has moved on to the HC job at Central Michigan.

Hard to keep up with all the moves that go on this time of year.

I'm hearing that Mike Elko the A&M DCoord might be leaving for the HC job at Temple. Scott have you heard anything?

I read somewhere that Butch Davis was leaving Alabama to take a role at Maryland. That gave me 2 thoughts.
    1. Butch Davis is at Alabama?
    2. That better be a major role at Maryland.

Well Butch Davis is currently the HC at FIU, so that's some real fake news. FIU was 8-4 and going to a bowl game

@IrishCorey I think you must have gotten your Butch's mixed up. It's Butch Jones who is joining the Maryland staff along with Tee Martin I think. Should be a recruiting machine. Now on the field maybe not so much.

No... I haven't heard a peep about Elko. Was just reading some bowl stuff, and nothing there.
    Guess we'll see.

yeah, Butch Jones was one of those advisors or something like that at Alabama. He was not a on the field coach. I think he is going to Maryland to be a coach with Locksley.

ahhh thanks for straightening that out @Terry O'Keefe . It just didn't make any sense to me at all. I have read the Elko rumors, but I just assumed they were rumors. A&M is paying him a whole lot of money to not be 'the guy.'
