at the same time, he will be shielded from the media by Coach Saban.

Corey, very true. Alabama's assistant coaches usually speak to the media once or twice a season, but his actions and results (or lack thereof) will still be intensely scrutinized, analyzed, and demonized! :)

I am anxiously awaiting the first reporter to step over the line and take a cheap shot at Saban. Sark has a legit illness, Kiffin is just an asshole. If Saban successfully defended for these past few years, he'd probably tear the head off of someone suggesting something untoward about Sark.

I really enjoy Saban's press conferences.

I wonder if Jeff Fisher is going to get any inquiries from college teams. I'm thinking a change of scenery might be all he needs to get his mojo back. I think he's a pretty good coach.

    Corey,
The pressure will be football related, not alcohol related. I was referring to how Sarkasian will handle the pressure of being the OC at Alabama, not that anyone would attack his illness.

Kiffin is bringing Charlie Weis Jr with him to FAU, and rumors are that former Maryland HC Mike Locksley will also leave the Tide for FAU.

Per the Columbus Dispatch today, Davis will replace Luke Fickell.

Ohio State has hired veteran NFL assistant coach Bill Davis to join its coaching staff next year, the program announced today.

Davis has coached in the NFL for 24 years, including seven as a defensive coordinator. He had that job from 2013-15 with the Philadelphia Eagles under Chip Kelly. Davis has spent this season as an analyst inside Ohio State’s program.

A Youngstown native, Davis also served as defensive coordinator for Arizona from 2009-10 and San Francisco from 2005-06.

Davis was also Meyers Best man for his wedding to Shelly.

RIP Lavell Edwards. He was a great coach at BYU, really put that program on the map. Lot of great QB's. Steve Young, Jim McMahon, Giff Nielsen, Marc Wilson, Ty Detmer , Robbie Bosco, and a few others. He had the Air Raid Offense before it was the Air Raid offense.

I believe that Sarkisian was one of LaVell Edwards' guys.

I hope things work out for Purdue Stu! Sounds like a good hire.

I see that former IU HC Kevin Wilson is likely to be the Ohio State OCoord and the guy from the 49ner's the QB Coach. Wilson seems to be a good hire and I don't know anything about the guy from the NFL, Brian Day.

Not sure that Wilson is such a great hire, not being received very well here on local fan forums. Meyer thinks otherwise.

Ryan Day has NFL experience as a QB coach under Chip Kelly. He does have some extensive NFL experience.

Don, I wondered how his being fired at IU for undisclosed but much discussed reasons....ie mistreatment of players, would be viewed by the Buckeye fans. I think the guy can coach though. Maybe Urban is taking a page out of Saban's book and feeling like he can rehab their personal problems while utilizing their football savy. I mean Sark had a pretty rough firing for cause at USC, and now he's coaching in the Nat'l Title game.

Uh oh...Tom Herman is reportedly going to hire Tim Beck as his OCoord. Given the regression of JT and the Ohio State offense, I wonder why?

Ohio State lost 15 to the NFL last year. This team was mostly freshman and sophomores.

They are going to be hell to deal with next year.

One article I read referred to his recruiting ability and his knowledge of the talent in Texas. Beck is from Texas. That might be a good move for Herman and the Longhorns.

That's true, but they were all highly rated kids, and well coached at Ohio State...so it's not quite the same as a normal team losing a bunch of seniors. Alabama faces that almost every year with Saban's success in recruiting and developing those kids. Yet every year new stars emerge to replace the old stars who left for the NFL.
