Collingsworth did the ND broadcasts when we first went with NBC. I always thought he acted like he hated the job, that ND football was terrible and that he couldn't wait to get away from the place. I've never cared for him since then. But maybe while he was doing the broadcasts he took note of what a neat place it was and when his kid got the offer...to say that he jumped at the chance to go to ND is an understatement. I would have thought that the dad would have said no way is my kid going there.. Suprise Suprise Suprise. I hope he can play.
ND <r>Terry,<br/> <br/> I feel the same as you. Collinsworth didn't seem like he liked ND at all when he was doing broadcasts. Could have fooled me. Let's just hope the son has some of the same stuff his old man did. It looks like they are penciling him in at the WR position. <E>8)</E></r>
You.... <t>Guys sound just like me on the DAD as I've never liked him. Now he could play and I actually sat with my grandfather in Rice stadium watching Florida maul Rice when Chris played there and he was good.<br/> This is the first example of Brian Kelly and his mark on ND concerning players. Lets hope it is the first of many correct decisions made to get the Irish program headed in the right direction. ND does not have to get all four or five star players to win big but the right guys Kelly and his staff can coach the hell out of and get 110% out of which we all know has long been lacking in South Bend.</t>
I saw that another recruit decommitted. Can't recall his name. He is a DB about my size, 5'9" and around 170. Doesn't concern me. Just thought I'd mention it. That's the key. We are getting the right players. It's not only the coaching but more importantly, it's the motivation to play up to their potential that they need, which IMO - in retrospect - was not there all season. That's what Ara and Lou, and even Dan Devine, did so well.
Rees <r>here's a little good news Irish fans. Tommy Rees WILL enroll early. Really helps out the QB situation a lot. Couple of quotes:<br/> <br/> “I thought it was the best thing to do for myself and I’m happy about it.”<br/> <br/> “It was extremely tough,” he said. “On both sides there was pros and cons. To have to leave my basketball team, and my friends and family was a tough decision, but they’re all supporting me and that made it easier.<br/> <br/> “There was some indecision there as soon as coach Weis got fired, but as soon as I met coach Kelly, that all went away.”<br/> <br/> As a senior, Rees completed 78 percent of his passes for 2,650 yards and 24 touchdowns. He will be one of just two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster this spring, joining junior-to-be Dayne Crist. <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E></r>
