Sorry Corey, I read to fast. Hey at this point I am glad Charlie isn't seen as Head Coach material. It appears he is ok with it to. He is the highest paid assistant coach we have ever had and I am really looking forward to next years offense. Make that really, really, really looking forward. I can't believe our luck in getting him.
I think Weis is justification for all ADs who never hired Norm Chow to be a HC. As an OC, I'd take him every day of the week. His shortcomings as an HC are our fault as much as they are his. It's not like we didn't know he hadn't been an HC before. My lone hope for him was to find a great, young defensive guru looking to stick around 5 to 7 years looking to make a name for himself. It didn't happen and Chuck's weaknesses were exposed for all to see.. Let me ask you guys this... how good of a HC is Pete Carroll without the Norm Chow offense (and his legacies that followed) and the Coach O/Lane Kiffen recruiting machine behind him? I think you guys are going to love/hate him...which oddly, I think will work out at Florida well. Spurrier is quite possibly the biggest A-hole to grace the sidelines but he wins and scores points.. He's a messiah at Florida. Urban Meyer is/was a double talkin' shuck and jive specialist who out worked people.. He'd say or do whatever it took to win and they loved him at UF. When Charlie starts running off at the mouth and saying the stupid things he does, Gator fans will look the other way just so long as he scores points. I could see this being a big win-win situation for all concerned.
He was intensely competitive......and might do as you say above as long as it was with integrity and within the rules. That was my take on Urban and a view shared by probably all Gator fans.
Corey, can agree with your assessments of Spurrier and Meyer but I do think Gator fans are going to love Weis. Like I said, I am really anxious to see his offense in action.
Bill, I'm excited for you guys too. Just an FYI.. pertaining to my wish about Charlie nabbing a young DC looking to make a name for himself. I know it's rumored that when he first landed the job.. his 'consultants' had told him about a youngish DC in the ACC who had great potential. Sadly for Charlie, Al Golden passed to spend one more year at Virginia before taking the head job at Temple..and is now the HC at Miami where I think he might just do ok.
