Teams don’t have much control over their strength of schedule, but it is what it is. If it works out that the opponents that are on your schedule are not ranked then you have to live with it. It certainly didn’t help Miami that FSU was so bad this year.
I will say once again that with Alabama’s inconsistency, I’m not sure they belong in the playoffs. We had some good wins (Georgia, South Carolina) but we had some bad losses (Vanderbilt, Oklahoma), so I can see their frustration.
I don't think Penn. St. has beaten one top 20 team and they will either get a bye into the semies if they win or 5th seed. Not bad.
Yeah the 12 team playoff is what fans wanted, so it certainly brings in a lot more teams who can feel like they were screwed by the committee. With the 4 team playoff it was usually just 1, who ever was 5th.
For the most part recruiting is done and it's portal time. Of course there are a few guys I guess who are waiting till the Feb date but I don't know who they are to tell you the truth. Here's the Top 25 (Rivals) Top 25: Oregon Georgia Ohio State Texas Alabama LSU Michigan Auburn Texas A&M Florida Tennessee Notre Dame Miami Mississippi USC Penn State Oklahoma Nebraska Wisconsin South Carolina Missouri Georgia Tech Kentucky Washington Arkansas
More than a few people think that the committee is going to do a little bit of manipulation with the rankings so that they get the matchups that they want, for example Alabama traveling to South Bend. I'd hope though that they would rank people based on anything other than the 1st round matchups.
I know that there are fans who think that Alabama will have trouble with the ND weather but, it's been pretty chilly down in Alabama this week. It might be less of a factor than people think.
Yes sir! All those players who chose a school "because of the academics" are moving on to another school where they can play football.
Watched Army grind down Tulane last night. I think they scored on almost every possession, Tulane moved the ball on Army but just couldn't close out drives, have a worse FG team than the Irish! Kudo's to Bryson Dailey, the Army QB, who is a warrior!! In another time he'd be a Heisman winner but it's not the 50's anymore.
Or the early 60s (Joe Bellino and Roger Staubach) unless you were referring only to Army, in which case you were spot on.
Boise State is in and it will take a monumental collapse by Arizona State for them to not win this game. They are ahead 38-10 in the 4th qtr. 3 Conf Championship games to go.
A little better start for the Longhorns than back in Austin. Lead 3-0 at the end of the 1st and are moving the ball while UGA only has 9 yards of offense.
Longhorns completely dominated Georgia but only lead 6-3. They have been penalized a lot in this half and Sark even commented that he hoped they would call some of the holds on Georgia as well to the sideline reporter. Texas defense has been outstanding when they aren't off sides or doing PI!!
Traditional PAC 12 fans have to be seething. ASU is the Big 12 champ. Oregon likely will be the B10 champion. The implosion of that conference was a monumental failure of leadership. The only silver lining is that the school most responsible for the breakup, USC, failed miserably in their first year in the Big 10.
Well no Carson Beck for the 2nd half, but the Dawgs come out on fire behind the backup QB, and just march right down the field and it's 10-6 just like that. Now the kid, Gunner Stockton, was a 5 star dual threat QB but has no experience. Looked very good on that opening drive. Longhorns need to answer.
