If Wisconsin ends up in the Rose Bowl vs USC, I predict a big win for USC just too much speed and talent on offense. I would be ok with OSU if they hadn't lost so badly to Iowa. Then it would be a 1 loss Champ vs a 1 loss non - Champ. But this will be exactly like last year.
My rankings, like anybody cares! 1 Clemson 2 Oklahoma 3 Alabama 4 Georgia 5 Ohio State 6 USC 7 Auburn 8 Penn State 9 Wisconsin 10 UCF
KP and TOK: Not sure losing to Oklahoma is a "bad" loss. The loss to Iowa was a brutal loss and would be the thing that might keep them out of the playoffs. Last year 1 loss OSU jumped over 2 loss PSU because they beat three top 10 teams while PSU, although the conference champ, lost badly to Miich and lost to a mediocre Pitt team. What might hold back Alabama is that unlike OSU of last year, Ala has no quality victories this year. I guess the best way to do this is to inject Dabo with truth serum and ask if would rather play OSU or Bama. The team he does not pick gets the 4th spot.
The Rose Bowl is one of the playoff games so you will not be seeing a Wis/ USC match up, Terry. That Texas craft beer you are trying out tonight must have a liitle kick in it.
I thought I saw a graphic tonight somewhere on TV that said both OSU and Bama had 3 wins over ranked teams. I'm assuming it was referring to teams ranked in the top 25 at the time they played. I agree with Bobda that OSU's loss to Oklahoma was not a "bad" loss but the 55-24 blowout by Iowa was hurtful.
Alabama had many chances to lose to an Iowa level team and didn’t. Our only loss (albeit a sloppy one) was to a top 10 team. If a 2 loss team makes it in it will not be a 2 loss team from the SEC. That should dispel the claim that this system is set up to favor the SEC.
You are right KP. You did not lose to any mediocre team and did not beat a really good team. Taking the third best team in the SEC over the B10 conference champion would not suggest any SEC bias.
Sid, Alabama's quality wins were over LSU (17) Miss St (23) and Fresno State (25) OSU's are Wis (4) PSU (9) and MSU (16).
I don't think I've ever seen a problem with a field like this and I have seen some awful muddy fields.
A very wild finish and a win is a win. I thought our call playing was extremely conservative in the second half. J. T. still did not appear to be 100% in my opinion.
Refs really missed an obvious oass interference by Ohio on the play Wisky got called for holding. Buckeyes really shut down Wisky's running game. I think the Badgers longest running play was less than 9 yards. Barrett's interceptions and failure to hit wide open receivers kept Ohio from blowing this game wide open. Curious to see a Vegas point spread on Clemson/Bama and Clemson/OSU. Suspect OSU would be a bigger underdog.
