The college football world needs a successful Nebraska program. Not sure the other B10 schools would agree.
Jimbo has called on Aggies to set the all-time spring game record for attendance. He want's over 1ooK Ag's in the seats. You going Scott?
Final 247 Composite. 1. Georgia 2 Ohio State 3. TEXAS 4. USC 5. Penn State 6. Clemson 7. Alabama 8. Miami 9. OU 10. Notre Dame To a certain degree these rankings a influenced by the size of the class. Not that 27 2 stars gets you anywhere, but still size matters. So it's a testament to quality that USC sits at #4 with only 18 kids, Clemson at #6 wih only 17 and Alabama at #7 with only 19 kids. The rest of the top 10 all have mid to high 20's. Top talent is not distributed evenly either. There were 29 Five-Star prospects in the 247 Composite this year. Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and USC combined to sign 21 of them. The rest of college football combined for the other eight.
When asked if he was pleased with the final recruiting ranking, Coach Frost replied; "We're not here to win February"....
Well I think it's no surprise that the teams that dominate recruiting also are the teams annually in the hunt for the title. Sure you can point to TCU, Wisconsin, and some others who never are highly ranked in recruiting and still have some great teams. Testament to excellent coaching and player development. But make no doubt that I would much rather have Alabama, Ohio State, etc classes every year.
I'm pretty sure we'll set a record. Not sure if it'll be 100k, but there will be a BUNCH of us that want to know what this thing called a "Tight End" is... and also a "Fullback"??? 8)
The Gators were in the mid teens with a class of 18. Most of us Gator fans are happy with the result. In addition to the 18 incoming players the Gators got two transfers that hare pretty likely to be eligible next season. Both are wide receivers, Van Jefferson from Ole Miss who is a junior and ranked as a 4 star when he was recruited. The other is another receiver Grimes who iw either a red shirt freshman or true sophomore and was a 5 star recruit a year ago to Ohio State. Both are petitioning to be eligible next season, Van Jefferson because of the Ole Miss probation and Grimes for a family illness situation and to nearer home. If you factor those two into the equation the Gators did quite well, especially with a new coach.
I have wondered what will happen with the Ole Miss transfers. They have to be treated equally, which means they will likely all be eligible, which also means Michigan solved it's QB problem.
I suspect that with the return of last year's designated RB starter Jordan Scarlett along with these experienced WRs plus some top WR recuits that the UF offense will finally be a threat this coming season.
Scott, I see that Grant Gunnell has decommitted from A&M. There was an article on recruiting in the Chronicle last week and they talked about him and he said at the time he's not had the chance to really sit down with Jimbo and discuss the future. Did Jimbo tell him he should consider others and that he wasn't a fit for what he has planned at A&M. I don't think he'd be a fit at Texas either, but I could see him with Oklahoma State in that offense.
What I heard is his Dad is a bit of a helicopter parent and he's driving the bus now. I doubt Jimbo told him to move on... Guess we'll see, but glad he did it now so we can plan accordingly...
I saw this morning we have recently offered him a scholarship as well, although I see that more as a backup just in case. He is listed as #2 QB on our list for the 2019 class.
