34 is a lot of new guys. I'm not trying to get the old "oversigning" debate started again, nobody want's his school to do things right than Tom. Just curious how the numbers work out for Tenn to make room for that many new players next year.

Blue Shirting, now that's a new term to me. 14 early enrollees, that's a lot as well. Butch is sure going to have a lot of new faces come August!

Well Alabama is the #1, the king of recruiting again this year. Pretty much a consensus #1 class as usual. Can't wait for kp to be handwringing over something!

Tennessee got everyone we were expecting except for one with academic issues that went the Prep school route.

Supposedly...Every 5 star Saban has recruited at Bama has become a 1st round pick in the NFL draft. Definition of recruit, develop and reload.

Not a single 5 star bust.

Way to go, Tom. I want to see TN return to being highly competitive in the SEC.

Saban's record in that regard is truly impressive.

Turns out Saban has had some 5* kids who didn't turn into first round draft choices!! There is hope for the rest of us.

Interesting looking at the Rivals Top 100 and how it makes it tough on Midwestern Schools these days....virtually all of them are not from the Midwest. I think only 2 are from the traditional Big 10 foot print. Now the Irish are able to get some kids nationally and so is Ohio State and Ohio is a state that always has a lot of good players so OSU usually has highly ranked classes. Michigan can recruit nationally. But the rest of the B1G has to coach'em up which is what Dantonio has been doing at MSU.

I really believe that the recruiting sites star ratings are BS. I am glad that Alabama's class is well thought of but this is not the Number 1 rating I am looking for.

    Composite Rankings from 247 Sports.

7 out of top 10 are SEC teams (Bama,LSU,A&M,Tenn, Fla, Georgia,Auburn)
2 Midwest teams Ohio State and Notre Dame
    1 ACC team in FSU

No Pac12 team in the top 10. 3 Pac 12 teams 11-20 USC/Stanford/UCLA. Really surprised that UCLA barely made it into the top 20 and no Oregon...although they were #21. If Sark can coach, USC will be back as a rival to Alabama for the #1 ranking pretty soon.

Terry, you questioned Tennessee's ability to take 32 of which 31 were landed. What about Army... They took the #100 spot with 44 recruits.

Buckeyes end up with 23 recruits, the latest and last commitment has not had his official visit, a defensive end from NJ, who flipped from MSU.

We did very well with meeting our needs on the offensive line, linebackers, and defensive secondary. Also picked up a good place kicker from Kentucky.

We should be a better football team this fall, especially since Braxton Miller is returning for his senior year.

Technically none of those Army players received athletic scholarships, so in theory their entire freshman class for 2014 if they all played football would be legal.

I would think the Buckeyes may be favored to win it all next year. Tons of talent and Urban Meyer.

The schedule next year is more difficult so they should get enough respect in that department.

I think 2014 is the year...

Normally I would be pretty excited about UF's #6 rated class but I presently have lingering doubts about Muschamp's ability to develop the talent he brings in and to effectively gameplan on Saturdays.

Heck as Kp said we have been pretty decent in recent years at bringing in top talent on NSD but except for the 11-2 record for the 2012 season Muschamp hasn't been able to do enough with that talent..... so who knows?

I seem to remember Mack Brown once saying that recruiting rankings weren't all that important or accurate but that he'd rather be closer to the top than to the bottom.

Irish fans got a consensus top 10 class, but we didn't get a single "elite" player ie...no 5 star players. We got a lot of potentially very good players, but no Jaylon Smiths. Some talk that Diaco basically was a hinderance in recruiting this past year, he had one foot out the door all year. With the new guy at DCoord, who should be a better more committed recruiter, and a good year on the field next year should be another solid top 10 type of class. If you put a bunch of top 10 classes back to back to back to back...talent level starts to be pretty darn good and then it's up to the coaches. Nick Saban has proven he knows what to do with a talented roster, he's the gold standard.

I see the Buckeyes open on the road vs Navy. Last time they played Navy they needed a miracle play at the end to avoid the upset. I'm sure Jif will have a comment on the Buckeyes scheduling Navy!! :)

The difference with Saint Nick is that he gets those can't miss 5 star NFL type guys... especially at RB.... and then he develops the hell out of the rest.

With Muschamp there seem to be no "can't miss" outcomes.

And those that survive a couple of years with WM's coaching go for the NFL early as possible....
