....and prior to that it was Jan. 1st 2008....to a senior laden Michigan team hell bent on sending out Lloyd Carr with a victory.

Ole Miss might have won on a Sept. Sat. over Fla but they were not a better team.

You see.....I subscribe to the theory that one day does not a season make. One balls-to-the-wall performance in a given game is great for one contest but does not guarantee that you have a team capable of winning the next Saturday when you get a more talented team's best shot.

That's the nature of football in general and especially college football which has the elements of momentum and emotion wrapped up in it's gameday drama. It's the element that makes the game so unpredictable and ultimately very exciting to watch.

Hey, I told you that you were going to get beat last year but whatever..... :D I seem to remember believing that their OL would be better without Mr '1st round talent, free agent heart' at LT. They'd be better with their premier LB corps... even I didn't realize they could move on past the loss of Hightower (who is as good as anyone lines up at that position in the country btw).

But I told ya to watch out for em... you just didnt listen

I'll remember that the next time you dismiss regular season short comings by justifying them with a bowl win...

That's OK Corey as long as you are looking at comparable games over the course of the entire season and don't make a season long case out of one regular season game.

Hey, the SEC is the one that tells you they don't have to play folks because they have to play each other...and then the proof is in the puddin because they win their bowl games.

i'm just sayin.. if you had a change of heart, then good luck with that but it flies in the face of what other SEC fans and media members have been saying for decades.

You remember all those years of me bitching about SEC noncon scheduling? And it always boiled down to... we play in the SEC and that is tough enough.. and if we weren't tough enough, we wouldn't win our bowl games.

Now you're telling me that isn't so.

George, let me apologize for the tenor of my last post.

I was only getting at one point, I don't think anyone said anything about not enforcing DUI laws, our difference was the extra enforcement of our respective football teams.

MCG, let me ask you another question, when was the last time the
Gators beat a team when the other team was better?

Bill....I would characterize Zook's two wins over excellent Ga teams as games that might fall into that category. It's a very limited category especially recently because UF has been a pretty damned good program the last 5 years and not many....if any teams that UF has beaten could be said to be better than Fla for that reason. Urban's off years...his first and 2007 did not feature UF winning any games over opponents that were deemed to be superior to what Fla had to offer because the Gators lost those games.

Corey, I do think the bowl games are an important indicator when you add up the sum to the equation and don't single out one game as your prime example.

If the Big Ten for example only had Michigan in the 2008 Cap One beating Fla and no one else participating in bowl games that year then maybe you would draw the conclusion the big Ten was superior to the SEC that season......but there were many games played by both conferences and the results overall favored the SEC......certainly when you looked at the BCS Title game results and the overall bowl record of both conferences that bowl season. ( 7-2 SEC....2-5....Big Ten )
