I don't think anybody here hates the Gators or the Gator fans. I am hoping to party with Dave (MCG) at the next super bowl and since he is married take care of the ladies for him that seem to flock around him! ;)

I think the Gators and their fans are grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!! [IMG]

    Terry

"Spouting off about how we must be so much better than USC and Michigan isn't enough, now we have making a case for being that much better than OSU?? "

WZT, I live in Michigan. Excuse me for getting a little defensive when I tire of hearing we don't belong, shouldn't have been selected and will get our ass kicked.

Terry.....let's party....I'll bring the girls!!

    Hey Wendy how you doing?

I happen to agree that we just need to be excited to be there! I didn't think we would make it!

Gipper glad to know you are loving this and it seems you are into Stu's keep your humor thing. It's done wonders for me! 8) 8)

From a Gator message board....I hope Meyer gets a copy of these comments from someone for his own team bulletin board:

"So I listen to the Kirk Herbstreit show today in Columbus and what is the first thing I hear?

"The game will be over by halftime".

This isn't from Kirk, but whoever the idiot is that he co-hosts the show with. He went on and on about how bad OSU was going to whip us. It wasn't just him either. Others who appeared on the show talked about how it was going to be a blowout as well. Herbie, to his credit, said it "may" be closer than anyone thinks. He also mocked the SEC again by saying...

"Well the thing you have to remember is that they have that 'SEC' speed"

Then he sort of snickered to himself.

Geez...why should the Gators bother to show up to even try to beat these superhumans. Wow....

Don't forget we'll have the refs on our side, too.

Methinks there's a little bit of the pot callin' the kettle black here.

FWIW, Dave, I've got three sons who live or have lived in SEC territory and, uh, being B10 fans feel kinda the same way you do (living in Mich.)

Give Herbie the Wunderbuck a little credit...he's a huge Ohio State fan, no doubt but I think he respects everybody and tries to be unbiased, especially when he's on the national platform.

I have listened to that call in show many times, and would be really surprised if it was all that bad...that "idiot" is either Paul Kiels or Ronnie Stokes and they tend to be pretty respectful...unless you heard it yourself I would take it with a grain of salt.

If Urban Meyer is having to rely on posting stuff from the Gator message boards on his locker room then we probably will kick your arse...but I'm sure he's got better things to do.

    Stu,

I am listening to the same bluster here in Detroit from PO'd Michigan fans.

I am pretty sure that the slant put on the post by this Gator fan has some merit.

You guys (OSU fans) have been pretty mellow on the S/B board however and I would expect that.

Maybe a little older and wiser.

    MCG,

you boys are in Indian Country....no doubt you are gonna hear alot of smack talking from the locals - either pi$$ed off Stripeheads or conference and Buckeye homers. Should be no surprise there....Herbie's show in Columbus is a local one. No doubt his co-hosts and call-in guests are gonna be huge Buckeye homers. Herbie is a Buckeye alum, his Daddy is a Buckeye alum, he's former starting QB, his wife is a former cheerleader, he lives and raises his kids in Columbus and he bleeds scarlet and gray. When he's on the national stage he is as objective and well-informed as one could possibly be...when he's at home he tends to let his hair down a little bit but not as much as you would perhaps expect.....on the flip side, I would expect the boys in Gainesville to be huge Gator homers....such as the kids making their way to some Buckeye boards with the prediction of a 45-17 Gator victory. No shocker there....

    BT,

The wagons are circled and the arrows are whizzing close overhead to be sure. I think the furor will eventually subside a little.

In any event it does seem like many expect Ohio State to blow by the 8 point spread. Fine by me that that message will find it's merry way to the Gator team in lightspeed.

I think that same kind of scenario was going on FOR Florida vs. the underdog Nebraska in 1995 and boy were those Huskers fired up for that one! Same thing for OSU vs. Miami in 2002 and for PennSt vs. Miami a few years back.

    We will see.

Fortunately, the team leaders - Troy Smith and the rest of the 5th year seniors - as well as the coaching staff remember that issue quite well and will have the benefit of having been on the other side of the equation....

Tressell, his staff and the seniors will make certain that these kids will know that in fact these Gators are quite capable of embarrassing them if taken for granted. Coach T will have these kids ready to play - big boy pads included!

Great....should be a good game then because you must be certain that Florida will bring everything they have with all this blow out talk going on.

BTW, I don't think Miami took anything for granted in that Fiesta Bowl...I thought they played hard and well.

I do think that one of Tressel's strengths is that he always seems to have the team ready to play the game...we may lose but with him coaching we don't have to wonder "which team is going to show up."

"The Fiesta Bowl saw truly divided action. We opened Miami at –13.5 and it slipped all the way down to –11 in the weeks before the game on light-to-moderate action. As of January 1st, it looked like we would be cheering heavily for the Hurricanes but from New Year’s Day on the action came in heavy on Miami, moving the line back up to –11.5"
