Well when I was driving into the office all the talk was whether or not Cardale Jones should enter the NFL draft. I didn't know he was even eligible, but I guess he did a year at Military school and now is 3 years from his HS graduation. So he is eligible. The sports guys said he was no worse than the #3 QB in the upcoming draft and a likely first round pick, even if it is a lower first round pick. That and the fact that he's not guaranteed that he'll be the starter next year for the Buckeyes or that even if he is that Urban won't play Barrett and/or Miller quite a bit as well. So depending on how things go he could end up as the #2 QB as the season goes on. There continues to be rumors that Miller will be transferring as well, again he has only 1 year and he's not guaranteed to be the starter and he has to think after looking at Jones win the NC that he needs to find a place he can be sure he'll start and play the whole season and not spend the entire year battling for the job. I assume at this point that Miller if he does in fact transfer won't do it till after the semester or he'd already be gone. I wonder if Miller will be ready for Spring Drills, could it be that neither Miller or Barrett will be ready to go in the Spring?
It goes without saying that the Buckeyes will most likely open the 2015 season as the consensus #1 team.
Truer words were never spoken. It still comes down to blocking and tackling and the Buckeyes were men playing boys.
Well Cardale Jones says he needs more seasoning and won't be declaring for the NFL. That's good news for the Buckeyes and really it's good for Jones, even though he might get drafted based on potential and his play in the 3 games at the end of the season. Still it's not a lot to go on and if he is the starter and get most of the snaps next year, save for blowouts in the 4th quarter he's doing the right thing. If he gets pulled in some games and Barrett ends up as the starter later in the year, maybe not.
Not quite right. The first one is the Logo...then come O-H-I-and a last O...five flags total. The last flag carrier tripped and got run over by the team...along with one of the female cheerleaders...and ended up on the ground with the flag in the end zone. Still pretty funny but not a spelling error. Flag Bearer Trips
Frankly that's what I saw when I watched OSU destroy Wisconsin and it is why I said the Buckeyes would not only beat Bama but win the whole damn thing. They were just on a different level.
Cardale having a press conference today. I wonder if he'll declare for the draft or announce he's coming back to Ohio State?
Well so much for that thought! 12 Gauge is staying in school! It is going to be an interesting year for the Buckeyes!
Surprised he is staying for if he does not get significant playing time next year, he likely will be drafted at a lower round than if he enters the draft now with the memory of the NC still fresh in everyone's minds. He came across as a very likable and intelligent young man in interviews. I hope that this decision turns out well for him.
Me too Bobda. I have no idea how this three-way competition for QB is going to work out for the Buckeyes
Prediction: Braxton Miller to multipurpose offensive weapon, WR, RB, HB...to prepare him for the NFL. J.T. Barrett to LB and Cardale will be the starter at QB! BTW: Will Barrett be participating in Spring or still healing from surgery?
Terry, I think both Miller & Barrett are questionable for Spring ball. Maybe that is why Cardale decided to come back.
I am impressed because he knows the competition will be stiff, and in view of what he supposedly said earlier about going to class. Maybe he has matured alot in the last 3 games.
Kp, I think many of us underestimated Cardale. I know I certainly did and think his decision to stay in school is noteworthy. It is a roll of the dice and I am astounded at the negative reactions by the media and even some Ohio State players. It is nice to see someone who undoubtedly could use the money, not be swayed by the big bucks. He really is fun loving big teddy bear.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Urban handles the Qb. It does seem that Jones is a bigger faster better Passer than Tebow but the Barrett also was such a powerful runner as well. Then there is Miller who although every body says he will be back, I just wonder. I can't see him as a NFL QB. So moving position would seem to be a good career move. We'll see though.
Meyer had said prior to last season that Miller was the best he has seen at the Qb position. What a strange twisted turn of events. The best he has ever seen goes down and is replaced by another best he has ever seen only to go down and get replaced by a guy with the best postseason performance in college football history! What to do..... what to do.....
