re: Trying to out-smashmouth Alabama and LSU

Alabama and LSU are both coached by former Big Ten guys. Bielma will fit right in with them...

    JO'Co,

Oh, I'm not saying the method can't work... but to win in that fashion you need elite OL, and RB's along with great defense to back up the ball control offense.
I don't see him pulling away the talent to bring it all together.
At least not in the ever shrinking time window allowed these days.

Interesting to see what develops here....he never had a problem recruiting running backs. I don't remember a time when he didn't have at least one stud running back and a huge, physical o-line. I would bet that Wisky has more o-lineman on NFL rosters than we do.

I don't know if they have the same supply of road graders in Arky that they found and developed in Wisconsin but he always was more than adequate in recruiting nationally for his running backs. His issue was always finding enough skill position players and team speed on defense to allow them to be competitive at the highest levels....perhaps he'll find more fertile ground in Arky and surrounding areas....

Barry announced at his press conference that he will coach the RB but is looking for a new coach for the 2013 season.

Paul Cryst is out as Alverez indicates that he will not poach him from Pitt. One name that surfaced is Al Golden being a target.

You might recall that Bielema, after going for a 2 pt converstaion againt Minnesota late in a game when they had a three touchdown lead, indicated that he was not trying to run up the score but used a scoring probability chart as the reason for his decison. It looks like he used a similar chart to decide to take the job in Arkansas.

I see that Bielema hired the Tenn OCoord, JIm Chaney, at Arkansas. So I have to assume that based on the offense that he ran at UT, that Bielema isn't planing on pounding it at Arkansas like he did at Wisconsin.

I must respectfully correct you, having been in the company of Arkansas fans many years ago, watching on TV a game between Texas and Arkansas.

Did anyone else read the long letter that the HawkPig wrote the Arkansas AD about the Petrino firing? It's just shy of:

I have a crush on you. Do you like me, check

    yes
    no
