Well it's early in the off-season so it's started early, but hell folks complain about people speeding on the highway all over the country. If you don't need proof, then why do you think the SEC is any worse than anyone else? Because you want to that's why. When the momentum turns and some other conference or independent school goes on a run, I'm sure it will because of all of their hard work! You know last month it came out that Alabama had 29 football players received their degrees. It was in the local papers. Corey probably didn't see it, though. Our APR for 2014 is the same as Notre Dame's. None of that matters because there must be some reason why the SEC is on top now besides the fact that they are just better than the other team. And Corey, I'm sure someone saw proof of your cancer  It looks like it is going to be a long off-season 8)
Its funny that nobody talks about SEC teams such as Vanderbilt and Kentucky when assuming a little shady business is happening. Can it be that when your on top for so long human nature kicks in to assume something other than talent and coaching is at play... kp its the price to pay for being number 1, something I desperately miss as a fan..
When you're signing 10 more players every four years than other conferences you might just have an edge. Just sayin' http://isportsweb.com/2015/05/28/leveling-out-recruiting-does-the-sec-really-want-that/
Slightly misleading article. The SEC has instituted a hard cap of 25 counters per year. You can only sign more than 25 this year if fewer than 25 signed the previous year. So if I sign 20 this year I can sign 30 next. But only because 5 were "left over" from the previous class.
If we ever go to a Super Conference, I hope they do a couple of things. 1. Give the players 5 years of eligibility so that there is no penalty for playing a little bit as a freshman. And increase the # of scholarships to 25 per year so that we'd go back to having a 100 players over 4 years and eliminate the rules that allow you to count guys against opens slots in the previous year. 25 guys..that's it.
Maybe elite high school football players with NFL dreams are drawn to Alabama for the same reason why highly intelligent high school students with off the chart SAT scores and great grades apply to Ivy League schools--they want to go to an institution that they think provides them the best opportunity for professional success.
There is no doubt that success begets success, and Alabama is on a historic run right now. As long as Saban has the fire in his belly I don't see it changing much. He is going to have to bring in several new defensive coaches and if they aren't the right guys that could be a chink in the armor.
The magic of Saban is how he continually puts the best team on the field in spite of constantly losing coordinators and getting the most out of his younger players.... even true freshmen. He's a special coach..... and I'll give him his due. Meyer is also pretty damned good...and the next meeting in the playoffs between the two should be something to see..... as long as it's............. NOT ON NYE!!!
Since 2012 (according to ESPN) Alabama has signed at total of 3 over the limit. 2 in 2014 and 1 in 2012. They were 1 under the limit in 2015. I don't know how many actually attended but that is how many were signed.
The last time Kentucky was actually good, they were busted for paying players. Like the idiot coach was writing checks right out of University funded accounts. The God damned things were from the U of K paid straight to the player. Speaking of God, Nick Saban was at nearby Austin and Bob Jones High Schools today. My son is sitting here right now because people are freaking out. The dude literally walks on water in this state. Some of the photos are pretty creepy.
