Not really, I dont' think Oregon fans complained that if they'd have had more practice time they could have beaten Ohio State. But then it just doesn't seem fair that the teams don't have the same amount of practice time available. They should. This year I think the logical choice would be to limit Alabama to the 20 hours that Clemson is limited to this week. In other news....there is good news and bad news for Texas A&M fans... the good news is that they have a graduate transfer coming in at QB, it'd be a little bleak with only Hubenak as a scholarship QB if he got injured. The Bad News is that it's Trevor Knight, bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh....Sooner fans would gladly pay his tuition at A&M!
Kyle Allen to the Houston Cougars...I'm really surprised to tell you the truth. Herman must have done a hell of a selling job that he's actually going to be there in 2017 when Allen can get back on the field.
Well the final rankings are out. Top 4 were Alabama, Clemson, Stanford and Ohio State. Only Irish losses were to #2, #3 and #4. University of Houston finished in the top 10 for maybe the first time ever. I know they've been ranked in the top 10 before, just not sure they have finished there before..maybe back in the SWC days they did win a SWC Championship and a Cotton Bowl so they might have done it before. Irish finished #11. Played both Stanford and Clemson to the wire on the road but the game vs Ohio State while not a blowout was a solid loss and they were clearly the better team. I looked at Stanford and Clemson and thought, we should have beaten those guys..of course we didn't. I'm sure Buckeye fans are wondering what if, the team that showed up and beat both Michigan and Notre Dame solidly probably was the best team in the B10, but that loss to MSU kept them from the playoffs. Both MSU and Iowa were embarassed in their games. I think Ohio State would have beaten Stanford, and who knows what they would have done if they had made the playoffs.
Terry, a lot of thoughts about that around The Buckeye Nation, but we did not earn the right to reach the Playoffs. Everything else is pure conjecture and we will always remember that 2015 Championship and beating Alabama and Oregon with Cardale Jones and Devin Smith!
Urban Meyer has proven time and again to have the ability to be a big game.... playoff type coach. That said his team underachieved vs. MSU.... and they were denied the CFP opportunity that they could have made the most of. But make no mistake.... Clemson and Alabama were more than worthy of their spots in the playoff and OSU would have had to play lights out to beat either one.
Hindsight is always 20-20 and nobody thought MSU would get hammered like they did vs Alabama, but it would seem that maybe Ohio State would have been a better match for Alabama. But Mich State earned it on the field that's what we've all been pitching, on the field results.
Same for Saban and the Bama boosters...too many good players going to one place....just as with OSU and Florida before....something's being offered....Clemson isn't excempt, they cheated before under Ford, so to think that Daboo went to the darkside of boosterville isn't far from believing.....Something about the South....
The 1995 Nebraska football team is considered to have been one of the most dominant in the history of American college football according to Wikipedia...Talent or bought players...?? Tommy Frazier born Bradenton Florida, Frazier is the only one of the five whose consecutive national championships included zero losses or ties. He was named Most Valuable Player of three consecutive national championship games, the only player ever to accomplish that feat. Something about the South......
Tommie flipped a coin the night before he committed t NU......forget who the other school was....but if he was bought, then the offer musta been the same as the other place..... Tommie wasn't that sought after, and wasn't wanted that much in Florida.... We got lucky when we picked up Tommie.... If we only have had the boosters that the U has had over the years.....who knows what would have happened....
Everybody always talks about the SEC Bagman and how hard it is to recruit against them....but other than Cam Newton and that deal with a kid who went to Alabama there hasn't been any proof.
AJ has a long memory.... UF in the early 80s under Pell is what he refers to I guess. Can't hardly stand Cam Newton..... because he was pretty blatant about it at Auburn and never paid any price for it....
Laremy Tunsil just forgot that he would need to turn in his "loaner" vehicle. You always get to keep them for months. I know I do...
It's always the other guys. AJ you left out Oklahoma and Michigan State. They made the final 4 also.
"Complaining about SEC schools buying players is like complaining about people speeding on the freeway." That from a Tide fan that I shared the other day on my FB. I just don't care anymore about the issue, honestly. People are going to do what they are going to do and there's really nothing you can do to stop it other than out work them. When people say there's no 'proof', I can see where that would be good enough for them. I've never seen a cancer cell in person, but I've had it and beaten it twice. Did the tree really fall silently in the forest? Who knows? Who gives a ****. I love it and I'll be back for more.
