Most important game coming up. Our grandson is in the Gator band and will be marching in Birmingham for the big Gator game. Actually I am just looking for bowl season to be over with and the Gators to assemble their new staff and move forward. Then of course there's the little matter of those four teams playing for the Championship tomorrow.
Bill did you watch the end of the Gators/Noles basketball game? Have you ever seen anything like that? Gator accidentally tips in winning points for the Noles. Can't have happened very many times in history.
Of course there has been inadvertant tip-ins but on the last second game winning shot?? Probably not I would say. Unfortunately I was watching the mess......
Kelly is so damned frustrating. Like I said, I'll probably just do a topic to address the game. Right now Ole Miss is on the verge of getting housed by TCU. I was trying to get affairs for the day happened, but then the pregame show started and well....here I am.
Bowl games are sometimes weird. I certainly hope the TCU grinds Ole Miss in to the dirt, after Texas and OU both shat the bed the B12 needs good wins out of Baylor and TCU. I'm guessing TCU has arrived at that game with a chip on it's shoulder and something to prove. Ole Miss might just be there for a good time. Either way I hope the Frogs just crush them.
Hugh Freeze is supposed to be an offensive whiz, right? Does he know the definition of insanity? Keep dropping Bo into the pocket and hope for different results? Not sure Wallace didn't have a little grogginess from that helmet to helmet shot he took on the near safety.
I haven't seen a team all year with the D-line speed of TCU. The Ole Miss QB can't catch a breath under that pressure. Wasn't Alabama's only loss to Ole Miss? Terry, I think that chip on TCU's shoulder is the size of a railroad tie.
The Frogs seem to be one of the most motivated teams I've seen in a long time. Patterson has fielded good defenses for a while so it isn't a surprise to see them doing well. The pretender of the Bevo 10 is Baylor. I sure hope MSU exposes them with some hard hitting football.
I've never been a real fan of Patterson, he's a hothead on the sidelines. BUT... I have to say I like his approach to being "passed over" compared to his fellow Bevo 10 coach Art "I'm a whiny b!tch" Briles. On selection day Patterson said they were disappointed, and went to work getting his guys ready for their bowl. Briles - WHINE WHINE WHINE. He even said something to the effect that they should be there thanks to their impressive road win at OU... uh yeah that's looking like a quality road win, right up there with that toughie in Buffalo... Bottom line... actions speak.
something else Patterson did that I respect, was pulling the starters at the start of the 4th. Far too often, we see guys during blowouts late in the 4th still racking up numbers. TCU proved their point. They've got to be tired of doing that.
Don, You don't believe me but our pass defense is porous. Our run defense is very good, not great but very good. We led the SEC in rushing defense but our pass defense is very soft. The short pass defense is very vulnerable and it seems like we are in position on the deep passes but we don't play the ball and the receivers make the catch right over us. If the OSU qb is really on, then then it will come down to how well our offense plays. In previous years, all I asked from our offense was don't screw up. Not this year. This year we need to score 30 points at least to win against a quality opponent like Ohio State. Having said all of that, this is why I love college football. Whatever happens, this is why I love college football. 8)
