Only in your imagination would Auburn who started the season ranked below us and Oregon who started the season ranked below us and lost to us in a BCS game last year would leapfrog us.....ain't no computer, nor no human would have had such a foolhardy result. We ended last year above them, we started this year above them, we would have been above them in both human polls....no way, no how. Only in your fantasy world.....

    Imagination is right BT.

It takes imagination to think that the Buckeye schedule would have held up in a 3 team race amongst OSU, Oregon and Auburn.

You might have a case against Oregon.....but as you have said what happened last year doesn't mean a hill of beans for this year....right?

Given we were ranked above them both in both human polls and no worse than second of the three in the computer rankings at the time of our loss to Wisky, just when do you think either of the human polls would have dropped us below either, much less both? Because by your logic, we would have had to have been dropped below both in at least one human poll to not reach the title game.....after which of our wins would both Auburn and Oregon jumped us?

The notion that either the Harris or the Coaches would have dropped us after convincing victories below both schools and we would have fallen below both in the computer polls is just not rational...... But, I understand it makes you feel better and your obsessive envy of us blinds you to reality and compels you to make foolish proclamations at every turn, so carry on.....it's expected of you.

The first computer rankings as listed in the BCS on October 17th....after Ohio State had played it's toughest opponent Wisconsin on the 16th:

    Auburn average of 3.5
    Oregon " " 7.5
    OSU " " 15.5

BCS average computer rankings as of 11-28:

    Auburn 1
    Oregon 2
    OSU 11.75

All saw improvements in their computer rankings but Aub and Oregon were a strong 1 and 2.

Ohio State was far back at 11.75.

Beating Wisky wasn't going to make this huge difference up and the Harris voters would have been swayed....if not the coaches.

It might have been tougher for Oregon to sway some human voters because of last year's Rose Bowl game......believe it.....or not.

Well sure OSU had just lost to Wisc, so them falling is no big suprise. What you would have to look at is their ranking in the BCS before the Wisc loss. While the offical BCS wasn't out till after that, there is a site that has the formula down and predicts BCS rankings. I'll bet that before the loss to Wisc, they would have been #1 in the BCS poll.

It would be unlikely that a #1 BCS ranking would have slipped to #3 or below without losing a game. Not impossible if Computers would have them very low, but not likely.

Your signature win this season was to Iowa. That's not pathetic?

On October 11th Boise State was projected by ESPN to be #1 in the 1st BCS rankings.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/488199-bcs-rankings-2010-boise-state-projected-to-be-atop-bcs-rankings#page/10

They wound up at #3 before losing.

That same projection had Oregon at #2, OSU at #5 and Auburn at #8.

The human polls raced Auburn up to the top however as the season wore on after the Tigers played LSU and other SEC opponents.

The Tigers will finish that schedule with SouCar this Sat. as OSU sits idle.

You really think.....really.....that Ohio State would have stayed ahead of Auburn?

What we do know as fact is that before the loss to Wisky we were #1 in both human polls......which represents 2/3rds of the BCS total. We also know that we were behind Auburn but ahead of Oregon in the computer rankings therefore making it a virtual certainty that we would have had the highest BCS score.....the notion that had we continued undefeated we would have gotten jumped by both Oregon and Auburn in the human polls is absurd and without precedent given the circumstances......tell me again after which of our wins would both Oregon and Auburn have jumped over us in the human polls? You have no answer, you're just throwing crap....

What kind of asshat is dismissive of our performance and our success this year and takes potshots at us given the rather dismal performance of your own team.....go put your tail between your legs where they belong.

Please, somebody tell me why must we always put up with this kind of nonsense from this clown? Seriously.....

Must be Gip....we were pathetic. Fortunately just pathetic enough to likely be invited to continue our streak of BCS bowl games......deal with it.

Holy Christ, must be a full moon.

Damn BT you are one sensitive Buckeye.

The projection before the first BCS poll was at #5 for Ohio State.

They never made it that high because they lost.

You say that beating Oregon last Jan. in a bowl has credibility and yet you say that losing to SEC teams twice....decidedly....in the BCS Title game in the last 4 years has no credibility.

You think the BCS voters and ( as I illustrated not to be true ) that the computers would keep Auburn out.....again.......and put OSU in there instead???

You just are not facing the facts here BT......you never do.

    Come on man.....

By the way.......good friggin luck with whatever SEC team the Buckeyes play in the Sugar Bowl.....the track record is pretty poor.

    First of all......very nice.

Secondly........I have clearly stated in definitive terms......illustrated it with facts.......that it is not nonsense as you say.

I think Gipper.....being the Michigan area guy that he is and I am sure the reader of Michigan Sports sections........has an issue with why OSU is elevated to the second BCS title spot over MSU.

The question is what have the Buckeyes done....who have they beaten to merit a selection over MSU for a BCS bowl game?

I don't have a problem with how the three are ranked. MSU was downright blasted by Iowa. They were never in the game. Also, just a little over a week ago they came within a whisker of being beaten by Purdue, who is not bowl eligible. Terry already mentioned the OT win over ND, who, although I hate to say it, was not a top tier opponent.

Sorry, Gip. I'm in your corner in almost every discussion. Not this one. I'm guessing that you are yanking the OSU guys' chain and are not really that serious.

The only facts I've seen are that the week prior to Wisky we were ranked #1 in both human polls that are relevant and account for almost 70% of the BCS rankings. Of those that publish historical weekly rankings, at the time we had an average computer ranking of 8, Auburn 6 Oregon 9 thereby making it mathematically impossible for both schools to be above us in the BCS rankings....you can speculate - as you often do - about anything else you want. The notion that as the season progressed - including a victory over Wisky - had we stayed undefeated and been jumped by both schools is absolutely a product of your own dream world. Again I ask you, after which of our victories would the human pollsters have voted both schools - which is what you're suggesting - above us? I'm waiting......tell us which victory?
It's not meant to be nice but rather an honest question.....Why do we?

You are the worst nightmare of somebody seeking to "escape from the madness and flames plaguing todays message boards". First we are confronted with your incessant signature self-masturbatory chest thumping over the preminence of the Gators....when the Gators piss down their leg and are no longer part of the discussion, you then trumpet the magnificence of the SEC at every turn whilst simultaneously dismissing and marginalizing those whose accomplishments have been superior to that of your humbled Gators apparently in a sad, sorry effort to salve your wounded pride......a tired, sorry schoolboy playground ploy. That coupled with your inflammatory, confrontational and combative rants in the backroom that are insulting to all. In addition, your obsessive psychotic envy of anything and everything Buckeye puts us square in your rude, classless crosshairs and I ask.....Why do we have to constantly put up with nonsense from this clown? Seriously dude, I'm tired of your foolish sh!t....grow the f*&k up or get lost.

Hey, I'm trying to stick up for one of your other B10 brothers up in E. Lansing. They're getting jobbed. They're playing second fiddle to Wisc. and OSU even though they had the same record and went 1-0 against the other 2.
Remind me in the future not to stick up for the Huskers as they get jobbed. I'm sure that they'll just roll over for their B10 brethern.

Obviously Gipper didn't put on his reading glasses this a.m. did he Doc?

When thinking of the new conference we are joining, I'm reminded of that song from the Jefferson's......

"We're moving on up....to the east side....in a deluxe conference and a equal share of the pie hi hi......ahhhh we're moving on up...."

Hey in the last 2 weeks my guys played in NYC and LA. Sure we could have been at Iowa City, Bloomington or in the Happy Valley but we decided to leave that to you and your B10 brethern. At least you won't have to go to Stillwater any more. :D
