Regarding Ohio State vs Texas, many have dismissed the Bucks as opponents for the Longhorns....but I haven't. Bucks are always well coached and they have a very solid running game with Beanie Wells !00% at this time and Pryor who is very dangerous running from the QB slot. I have no doubt that the Buckeyes can beat us, I hope they don't of course, but I don't think this is in any way shape or form a mismatch.

I'm not worried about the passing game from tOSU so much , as having faced Bradford and Harrell already and a couple of others our young secondary is well versed in the passing game. I don't know much about the Buckeye WR's, this has been an tOSU strength in the past with Ginn and others and certainly in 2006 when they came to Austin we could not keep up with the Buckeye WR's. So I don't think at this point Pryor is a great passing threat, but he doesn't have to be if his WR's are running free in the secondary, I am sure he's good enough at this point in his young career to get the ball to open recievers. His big advantage is, like VY, the fact that he has a strong arm and when flushed he's impossible to bring down easily and the DB's are forced to come up and that leaves the WR's open downfield and as I said he's got the arm to get them the ball.

So we'll see can we hold Wells somewhat in check and prevent Pryor from making big plays? If so we should win the game. But easier said than done.

Well, it's not really a surprise, but that Texas Tech defense is looking paper thin. Maybe the Buckeyes can expose the Texas D but I doubt it. If anything, I think by next Friday we'll be wondering how the heck Oklahoma got in the Big XII title game over Texas....Nevermind, we're already wondering that.

I don't think that TT prides themselves on defense.

Ole Miss is moving the ball at will and except for a pick 6 would be leading by 10 at the half.

I like the Rebs' chances at this point and so far I am still waiting on some staunch Big 12 defense to be played. I think Big 12 offenses are good...sometimes great...but not significantly better than other good offensive teams from other conferences and the lack of facing quality defenses is why their stats stand out so much.

On the Big Ten......the rest of the world seems to be catching up to what I have been saying for two years....no need for me to pile on so I have had no comment and I won't except to say that I sure have had to catch a lot of grief over just trying to point out a few truths.

On the Motorcity.....who knows...I may be changing my moniker to...

    "MickeyCity" Gator......

As far as I can tell the Texas Tech defense is a little worse than the Gator defense against Ole Miss. Of course since this is a neutral site and the Gators got them at home early in the season, Tech and UF might be about equal in terms of ability to stop the Ole Miss offense!

And I thought bowl games were just a crap shoot?

My thoughts are cogent on this... Bowls esp the lower bowls tend to be crap shoots. Teams have varying levels of motivation. Texas Tech had little motivation for the Cotton Bowl, BCS rules screwed them out of a BCS bowl and Ole Miss wasn't exactly an opponent to get fired up over. Now Ole Miss on the other hand was excited to get a chance at Texas Tech and the Cotton Bowl was a plum for them. You see it all the time, yet another reason why we need a playoff. But just looking at the game anyhow it looked to me like the Texas Tech defense was a little worse than the Gator defense, some of which can be attributed to Ole Miss being a better team at Bowl time than they were when they went to Gainesville and the fact that UF was at home vs Ole Miss instead of a neutral site. Plus Texas Tech scored about the same number of points against Ole Miss defense which is no doubt better at the end of the year than when they went to Gainesville.

So congrats to Ole Miss, they wanted that game a lot more than Texas Tech and shame on Texas Tech for not showing up ready to play with some passion.

What does this really tell us about OU/UF....nuttin.

Terry.....you completely discount the Gator's defense post Ole Miss or even prior to Ole Miss.

The UF starting D gave up about 6 PPG or so in the games following the Ole Miss debacle.

A debacle it was for both offense and defense but if you choose to believe that was indicative of the real Gator D rather than the other 12 games they played then....have at it.....but your logic is a little suspect im ever so ho.

    A one-paragraph no comment?

    TOK,
I agree with your analysis about T/OSU. I took Ohio and the points but I think tha bet will fall into the category of money had and lost.

    Corey,

My late father, a fireman & ex-Marine wounded on Okinawa, was similarly hard headed when he thought a line was crossed. The only thing that saved my life from being ended by him while a teenager was that he would eventually forget why he was mad at me although it would still take about six months after he forget to get back into family member in good standing status.
