Gipper, you best hope the Big Ten votes to not playing this fall on the revote. The 4th spot that Notre Dame might earn, will require and undefeated season and winning the ACC Championship game??
I think most ND fans understand that unless we are undefeated it will be tough to make the CFP in most years. The year we lost a close game at home to Georgia, we were in the conversation till we laid an egg at Miami. I think this year if say we lost a close home game to Clemson in Nov and then came back and beat them in the ACC championship game we'd have a shot even if the BIG 10 had an undefeated champion. Best bet is to always win them all though!
Neb Prez lets the cat out of the bag!! Two days after Big Ten presidents and chancellors met to review information about a possible fall football season, University of Nebraska system president Ted Carter was caught on a hot microphone saying that an announcement will come later Tuesday. Carter was speaking to Bob Hinson, director of the National Strategic Research Institute, before a news conference Tuesday in Lincoln, Nebraska. "We're getting ready to announce the Huskers and Big Ten football tonight," Carter told Hinson, on a video posted by KETV television in Omaha. "Oh, really?" Hinson replied. "I heard that that was happening. There's a lot of anticipation about that. Good for you. Maybe that will get off your plate." Answered Carter: "Well, it never will, but it's a good move in the right direction."
One non-big 10 fan on Inside Texas leaked the statement that Kevin Warren will be making tonight. The Big Ten Conference is excited to announce the formation of the Joint Subcommittee for the Study of the Possibility for the Redeployment to Competition. This subcommittee was formed by joining the Big Ten Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Big Ten Sports Medicine Committee. "I'm really excited to see what the initial report from this subcommittee recommends when they present their findings in the next two to four weeks," Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren stated. "This type of exciting synergy and nimbleness is exactly the kind of thing that has kept this conference at the forefront of collegiate competition for the last 124 years."
Well still no official announcement from the BIG Ten Office and fans are going crazy, at least here in Columbus. We all have created the Internet frenzy about everything must be available instantly, and anything one reads or posts is accurate, almost laughable. Time to give things a rest!
Play Ball!! Happy for Big 10 players and fans that they will have a season. Hope it goes well, reading over the protocols that they are going to implement it seems like they are doing everything possible to keep the players safe. The issue that seemed to be driving the Big 10 not playing was the cardiac issues and their protocols reflect that continuing concern. All COVID-19 positive student-athletes will have to undergo comprehensive cardiac testing to include labs and biomarkers, ECG, Echocardiogram and a Cardiac MRI. Following cardiac evaluation, student-athletes must receive clearance from a cardiologist designated by the university for the primary purpose of cardiac clearance for COVID-19 positive student-athletes. The earliest a student-athlete can return to game competition is 21 days following a COVID-19 positive diagnosis.
Welp! Looks like M’s best receiver is sitting out and McCaffery is going to transfer after being beat out by Milton as starting QB. Michigan Football Chatter: More Departures Coming
One thing that having the Big 10 now playing is that it will make the CFP committee's job very easy. 4 Power 5 conferences playing and 4 Slots in the CFP. So Conference Champs get a slot, assuming that there isn't some big upset and a 4 loss team ends up a Conference Champion. That's not very likely, but you never know how the season is going to playout with the possibility of a team having key players missing from a game.
This lady a member of Northwestern's Board of Trustee's thinks today is a dark day in the Big 10. This is the Nebraska-ization of the Big Ten. Who would have thought that when Nebraska and Ohio State and a few of the league’s other squeakiest wheels started whining about missing out on football, the Big Ten presidents would buckle rather than stand up to them? Big Ten football decision marks darkest day in conference's history
[]Another vote whose result cannot be accepted? And she is on the side of a tyrant that tried to nullify the vote in the first place?[/]
Christine Brennan should talk to Jerry Sandusky’s victims and their families to get their opinions on what was the “darkest day” in B10 history.
I see that Rondale Moore has decided to play for Purdue, he previously had opted out for the season. Good news for Boilermaker fans.
