Another amazing play....Blue Jay jumps over Molina at the plate to score. I'm sure our resident Cardinal fan was thrilled at the athleticism showed by the Blue Jay! https://www.instagram.com/p/BTVO1FnAd4N/
Re: collision. It's a fundamental rule that you must call your teammates off loud and clear if you want to make the catch. I would say both players are at fault for not making a definitive, loud call-off. If one or both players did that and still collided, what can you say? I give them credit for competitiveness but not for judgement, Re: THE JUMP. Amazing! He had the presence of mind to stay in the base line. I want that guy on my team.
From what I read, the infielder should back off and the outfielder should have first shot since he's running to the ball and doesn't have to look over his shoulder like the infielder. But Hernandez is a rookie and had just been called up. "The Jump" ...why didn't I think about it, we have Dwight Clarks "The Catch" and now "The Jump". 8)
PAAALLEEAAASEEEEEE....Molina's like 5-6....The LEAP or the HURDLE is more like it... It was a good play though...
Sorry I'm late to the question. The guy coming in (towards home) should always take the ball unless he got a bad jump or something. He has a better view and line of the ball. The only players on the field who should be calling anyone off are the SS and the CF. Both positions require so much skill that if that guy has it, he has it. Altuve is a flash 2B and got his butt run into. Sid is right about the call off though.
Well the best catcher in baseball just showed why he is against the Reds tonite....awesome baseball play...catch 'em sleeping baby!!!
The next greatest phenome ever!! And he's a Notre Dame kid! Hah..just not the Univ of Notre Dame sadly! http://www.maxpreps.com/news/iDiDNN27fEuApfpbdC4Tfw/california-phenom-hunter-greene-makes-cover-of-sports-illustrated.htm
Funny you say that. My first reaction was....Great! Then I saw the bottom of the cover that said he has to graduate from high school.
NLC is looking like a 162 game dogfight right now. Will the winner have anything left for the playoffs.
It certainly looks like it right now, but we're only at the 20% mark in games played. There's a long way to go. I'm not assuming a Cubs' repeat. There are 3-4 teams who in my opinion are capable of emerging on top by season's end.
I know we're not the Red Sox but a big series with the Yankees starts tonight for the Astros. Our first look at the behemoth that plays RF for the Yankees. 4 game series. I'd be thrilled with a split
Man, we can't catch a break http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19357661/st-louis-cardinals-prospect-brain-surgery-being-struck-line-drive
Wow..I hope he's ok. My Cardinal Golfing Buddy says he thinks that phenom you guys had that was killed in the off season is still impacting the team. A couple of weeks ago I was watching a ND/Louisville softball game and the Irish batter rifled one off the forehead of the Louisville pitcher, she went down and of course they came out and talked to her and all and the left her in to pitch some more....I thought WTF, how do you do that, you need to take her to the locker room and do a thorough concussion protocol, probably a trip to the hospital for MRI/Catscan or something. Keep her under observation, etc. I couldn't believe they were letting her stay in and pitch...well after one more batter where she couldn't get the ball over the plate they pulled her. I haven't heard what happened to her though.
I thought we were going to x-tra innings with the Yankee's last night, but a laser throw to the plate nailed the Yankee and we got the win. Giles was given a save and I guess that's right but it sure didn't seem like he earned it with a walk, a hit and another game tying hit that he got bailed out on by the LF. But a win is a win.
