Yankees are peaking at the right time. Judge is back with a vengeance and in the MVP hunt again. All the injured players have returned. If they can get results outside of Tanaka and Betances they could be a tough out in the playoffs.
Well the worst the Astros can do now is 2nd behind the Indians. Jose Altuve got hit on the wrist the other night and hasn't played since. He's at 199 hits, I hope he gets back in time to get to 200 hits, he's done it a number of years in a row now. He again is in the MVP race but he's so low key I'm not sure he can win it. Judge being in NYC and being a slugger is an advantage. I'm not sure who else is in that race. Like Krebs said, the goal now is to finish healthy and on an uptick. Getting hot at the end is important for playoff success.
  Dodgers have home-field in the National League now, with a 2-game lead on Cleveland, with four to play for home field everywhere... The Yanks will be better next year, but George is right : they have more than enough talent to win it all this year. They could even win their division being only two down with four to play... I see the Twins were sneaking into the playoff when no one was looking... MVP in the NL is between Goldie and Megatron...
JO'Co are you worried that Puig is starting to go off the rails again...and this isn't the time for him to do that!.
Cubs clinched the NL Central tonight with a 5-1 win over the Cardinals for their third postseason appearance in a row.
re: Megatron Megatron is Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins. He's a local from Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks. He got his nickname, because he's a dead ringer for the character Megatron in The Transformers... http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/thumb/3/3a/MegatronTFUMarvel.jpg/250px-MegatronTFUMarvel.jpg re: Puig He's not called "The Wild Horse" for nothing. Sometimes he jumps the corral and tries to escape the confinements of team discipline, causing a severe reaction from Dave Roberts. He was benched a couple of games, which probably cost him his 30 HR season. If he didn't get benched so much he certainly would have hit 40 HRs, but he's back on track now. When he's in the game and paying attention, he's the greatest RF in the game. When he has one of his "spells" he goes directly to the bench near the manager. He requires special handling like Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, or Manny Ramirez. Some guys just never grow up. He's OK now...
Re: Megatron. I get it. It's the first time I've heard that name related to a baseball player. Thanks.
The Yankees went all in with Aaron Judge when they cordoned off a section in the RF bleachers and decorated it to look like a court room., They choose fans every game to sit in the "Court" and wear judges robes and wigs. When he comes to the plate they yell " All Rise!" and stand up. Personally, I thought that was a lot of pressure on a rookie. Recently they have nicknamed Gary Sanchez " The Krakken ".
Round of applause for the Twins. Last year they lost 103 games. This year they earn a wild card berth despite the fact that management dump traded their closer and a starting pitcher at the trade deadline along with losing a star player in a mid August injury. Would be nice if the Dodgers swept the Rockies this weekend but don't think that is going to happen so it looks like the fat lady is getting ready to sing good night to my Brewers.
Astros finish the season on the road at Boston...need to get at least a split in that series for me to feel good about the playoffs.
  Adrian Gonzalez is shut down for the year. This is another phantom, "bad back" situation. If his back is so bad, how did he hit a HR and a double the night before? The truth is, he didn't make the playoff roster... Cody Bellinger threw out a runner at the plate earlier in the week from centerfield. Radar guns clocked his throw at 99MPH... Fans still unhappy here over the slow waltz finish to the season...
