    Hug?? For what?

The SEC has proved it's dominance once again with a complete domination of the Big 12 Champion.

A lot of people might not pull punches Dave but many of them do it a lot more graceful.

"where folks from *all* colleges can partake of meaningful and intelligent conversation"

Let's think about what "meaningful" implies for a second.

....I don't think it implies that we all must conform....have the same identical opinions and always be afraid to express opinions that are not agreeable necessarily to someone else.

If the sportsworld is saying it in general....and that goes for any topic here......then it should be fair game on this board as well at least to debate.....in a friendly way of course.

I would suggest anyone here who is squeamish about differing opinions....( and it is just about 90% of you it seems ) do NOT READ this!

I'd say there are other conferences who have fared well against the SEC who don't get the chance to play the SEC come bowl time.

You so conveniently seem to forget regular season matches in favor of bowl games.

Your 'dominance' is certainly in the eye of the beholder.

Oh I know, you'll show me that you beat USC during the Carter Administration or something like that.. or maybe even point to LSU winning a dog fight against Washington this year while ignoring all others.

The reality is.. There are people and conferences out there as good as you, but bowl matchups have jack squat to do with the 'match up' and everything to do with the revenue and furthering the bowl/network agenda of protecting the BCS.

Hey...I'm talking mostly about Bama's dominant win over Texas on the biggest national stage. Five in a row for the SEC and none were close.

More testimony to what an unusual game it was:

"It was a bizarre game in which the Tide gained just 263 yards and converted just two third downs, yet started and ended with a flurry. Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy completed just six passes for 58 yards and endured five sacks"

Wow Dave you actually read the Skybox creed. But then of course you quoted it selectively. Here's the whole thing, you need to think about it for a bit, because when it comes to the flame part you are way at the top of the list, let's think about that for a bit.

I think it is the interpretation of "flame" that is the rub here.

Stating honest opinions seems to be a flame in your interpretation.

I don't say things or state opinions with intent to "flame" .....unless I am responding in kind to what was said to me by someone trying to evoke a response in which case I have been known to make counterpoints with equal effectiveness.

Bill, check out this detailed definition of "disparage".....of which flame is listed as an informal form of the word:

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/disparage

I think most of the descriptive synonyms that you will find in the listing are words that don't apply to my posts in the truest intent.

When I say I think McElroy had the best game of his career vs. Fla ( MVP of the SECCG ) and that he was less than average last night ( 5 sacks 58 yds passing ) that may sound like a flame to you but it's the truth and it is a follow up to what I had stated in a comment before the game so a postgame follow-up was appropriate.

I have also given Alabama as a team a lot of credit and paid homage to last night's victory as a great win for their program....and I meant it.

Now if I said that Ingram sucked and he was a slow-footed dweeb of a back that would be a flame because in reality he is damned good, won the Heisman and is a worthy winner of the award.

I think that when our better teams play your better teams, they almost always seems to win...and that's odd when you are talking about SEC dominance.. No matter who you play in your bowl games..

All I know is.. you ain't playin us.

You should have this year. We sucked. I can admit that though. Then again, we did lose to several Mountain West teams.. Something else you probably don't want to talk about.

I think there is good football all over. I think there is a lot of good matchups that are missed each year in search of the dollar.

I find it ironic that this system WAS originally sold..in its first package as a way to rid college football of all those pesky conference tie-ins that are ruining bowl games and will give us a REAL national champion.

And here we are... so many years later.. VERY few undisputed NCs, and more bowl tie-ins than we ever imagined seeing in our lives.
