Here's some games I remember. After the 2002 season Ohio State didn't have a chance against Miami. After the 2006 season, the Gators didn't belong in the game against Ohio State, it should have been a Ohio State - Michigan rematch. After the 91 season an unbeaten Alabama team was a heave underdog to Miami. A lot of fans thought a once beaten FSU should get a rematch with Miami. After the 2005 season Texas was a solid underdog to USC. To a lesser degree Tennessee was an underdog to FSU after the 98 season. All those underdog teams won and I believe that the undog status may have helped them. Texas for sure has a chance against Alabama. The ugly win against Nebraska could end up helping them. I'm looking forward to this game and feel strongly that Texas has a very good chance.
This bowl season has been a disaster for most of the favorites. Why should Thursday night be any different? Don
UF was....believe it or not....a 7 point favorite over Nebraska in 1996. My litmus test in this year's NC game analysis involves the deceptions of the conference title games as I mentioned. I think Texas had a much tougher foe than once thought in Neb and I think UF was a much tougher foe than they exhibited in their game with Alabama. Hence...a deception was created that Bama was head and shoulders above Texas. At least I think it was a deception but I remain a little uncertain. The one big reason I am not all in for a close game is the two games between the Big 12 and SEC so far.......easy wins for Ga and for Ole Miss. Sometimes a bowl pattern develops and Texas had better hope that those two games didn't set any sort of pattern.
Im going to start flooding sections with giant pictures of Kevin Bacon every time someone relates a nonGator subject to the Gators.
The other statement was relevant to underdogs that had won in the title games but how about you pick it up from here Corey: "My litmus test in this year's NC game analysis involves the deceptions of the conference title games as I mentioned. Corey, explain to me why you can't express yourself without using words you know are going to get deleted?
Post 'em!! I looked just like KB in Footloose back in HS. Stunt Double close. Now I have to deal with people coming up to me all the time asking me "Mr. Pitt, what are you doing in Fort Leonard Wood and can I get your autograph?
I know, thus me saying 'just seeing how many I can get deleted' I really like the red text functionality over the bad words. I think it adds a bit of flare to an otherwise dull bowl season.
Getting ready. Getting the game face on. Bottle opener check, limes check, nerf toys check. Looks like everything is ready. I'll talk to y'all tomorrow. RMFTR
Well.....what can you say. Must be Bama's year. With McCoy and those Tide mistakes it would be 14-0 Texas. No McCoy......easy win for Bama. I think though you can see the damage Dunlap could have wrought on McElroy. What a jackass he was along with his teammates. Anyhow.....congrats now to Kp and and Bama fans because this freshman aint gonna do it. Damn.....this was looking like a great game.
Geez MCG can't you talk about this game as this game and leave the Gators out of it? Rotten break for Texas losing McCoy. It looked like the new QB was hurt also but he's coming back into the game. 7-6 Alabama, Texas with the ball on their 15. I'm still hoping for a good game.
14-6 now....game over Bill. I am most disappointed that it looked as if we might get a good game but now I would say.....Bama 42-13 It's so evident that this freshman doesn't belong on the field in this game. Can't believe MB had no reliable back-up plan whatsoever. The rout is on.......SEC 5-0 in the last five BCS Title games. Pretty impressive and it continues to give the SEC Champion a free pass into the title game with all else being equal......with apologies to Corey.
