For Hawaii to even be in the at large pool they have to get inside the top 14, they could get a guaranteed bid ala' Boise State if they finished as high as BSU did but that's not happening this year for them. Or if one of the conference champions was outside the top 16 and they were inside the top 16....but that's not happening either. So forget about Hawaii.
Here is Kansas' schedule. If they get away with this, every school will do it... 09/01/07 vs. Central Michigan 09/08/07 vs. SE Louisiana 09/15/07 vs. Toledo 09/22/07 vs. Florida International 10/06/07 at Kansas State 10/13/07 vs. Baylor 10/20/07 at Colorado 10/27/07 at Texas A&M 11/03/07 vs. Nebraska 11/10/07 at Oklahoma State 11/17/07 vs. Iowa State 11/24/07 vs. Missouri Geesh! They squeeked by some of those teams and beat others that will fire their coach because they lost to Kansas...
Interestingly, per the NCAA, the Kansas schedule is not much different, in terms of difficulty, that the schedules played by USCal, Oklahoma, or TexTech.
Gaterz <t>that should just go to show you that rankings and stats aren't the answer.<br/> <br/> You compare this:<br/> 09/01/07 vs. Central Michigan<br/> 09/08/07 vs. SE Louisiana<br/> 09/15/07 vs. Toledo<br/> 09/22/07 vs. Florida International<br/> 10/06/07 at Kansas State<br/> 10/13/07 vs. Baylor<br/> 10/20/07 at Colorado<br/> 10/27/07 at Texas A&M<br/> 11/03/07 vs. Nebraska<br/> 11/10/07 at Oklahoma State<br/> <br/> to this:<br/> <br/> Sat, Sep 1 Idaho<br/> Sat, Sep 15 at (14) Nebraska<br/> Sat, Sep 22 Washington State<br/> Sat, Sep 29 at Washington<br/> Sat, Oct 6 Stanford<br/> Sat, Oct 13 Arizona<br/> Sat, Oct 20 at Notre Dame<br/> Sat, Oct 27 at (5) Oregon<br/> Sat, Nov 3 Oregon State<br/> Sat, Nov 10 at (24) California<br/> <br/> and call it comparable???</t>
Hey Corey ... you were the guy quoting rush defense http://www.theskybox.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2765 So, I guess you like to use NCAA statistics when they support your position ...... and then you claim they are useless when they don't. 8) But hey, I'm not trying to convince you of anything ....... I'd rather you just stick with your convictions, as they are.
Idaho, Neb and Notre Dame...that's not a very strong statement for having played a tough non-conf schedule. It's at best slightly better than the Kansas non-conf schedule.
Hey Gaterz <t>And tell me...<br/> <br/> How did those stats play out? <br/> <br/> You can use stats to look for trends, but like tea leaves, they aren't 'proof.'<br/> <br/> I was wrong, and the stats were worthless. Thanks for playing.</t>
Terry <r>I wasn't comparing the noncon schedule only. I was looking at who each team had played to date in totality.<br/> <br/> Nebraska is still one of the 'top' opponents on Kansas' schedule so far. Its one of the bad teams on USC's. Not Idaho bad, but like Wazzu (sorry kes).<br/> <br/> What I still find amusing is that Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon and even Missouri to an extent are 'up for debate' but somehow LSU is not. Even more amusing, how Ohio State has dropped all the way out of discussion.<br/> <br/> There's a lot of football left, and a series of crazy upsets could leave them as the top 1 loss team...and of course, you have the Hawaii vs Boise State tilt coming up <E></E></r>
