2 meaningless non-conference losses. If they win out and beat OSU they will go to a BCS bowl!! How's that for a turn around from the depths of the 0-2 start? 8)
exactly <t>and excuse me but 2 losses doesn't take you out of the NC picture this year.

The talking heads were already positioning themselves to prop up LSU or Florida with 2 losses for an NC run, even over an unbeaten or one loss team from the Big East...

That's the thing about ND stinking this year. I get to just sit back and listen... and listening to the ESPN talking heads, all of the justifications for:

-How you finish the season
-Quality of players
-Showed the ability to come back despite key injuries
-Did you beat your rival

that they were using in attempt to say LSU or UF were better than teams like South Florida would actually all favor Michigan if they were to finish the season with two losses....

All that being said, the Buckeyes haven't lost....</t>
Stu, enough of that crap....we don't need those negative vibes! I have a lifetime of bad karma from these green Sparty boys - I don't need another visual to keep me up at night. I still see Levi Jackson running 80 yards down the sideline in E. Lansing.....I still see Champ Henson scoring on third down and goal inside a minute and not getting the call.....I still see Plaxico Burress catching jump ball after jump ball in the end zone over all-pro Antoine Winfield and all-pro Nate Clemens getting hit in the head by a punt on coverage to turn the ball over to the Green and somehow it was all Cooper's fault.....enough with the freakin' trains!!!!! Just win baby....
My very best hope this season for Florida was as I have said before that the Gators finish with a maximum of two losses and play in a BCS bowl...even if not as SEC Champ. The NC title defense has never been part of the equation for me and so with two losses Florida says adios to that and it's no problem for me or most Gator fans who are realistic. Two loss teams would need an absolute miracle to make it to the NC game.
MCG, In past years that probably would have been true. However this year it looks like that may not be the case. I can never recall a season with so many upsets. i imagine there will be a few more before seasons end. Don
Don, You could be right the way things are going. I could see a two loss LSU playing in the NC over a one loss BC but not a zero loss BC. So it depends on which team has no losses if any. I think LSU though may lose in the SEC CG if they play Florida. If they don't play UF then the Tigers may be a one loss team with the best chance to play in the NC. I think Ohio State uses Glendale as a catapult to the NC game as an unbeaten team and in fact CBSSportsline had an article about that yesterday.
Terry, I forgot to answer your question but so far things are going well in Wisconsin although I have not had the time to really explore the Milwaukee area, yet. The two things that are very noticable are: 1 people drive better in Wisconisn than in Michigan; 2 the number of for sale signs on residental propertires are significantly less although the housing slump has hit here like it has every where else. But, Michigan is simply in another category with its unemployment rate now hitting 7.6%. Re Michigan: while I think will give the Buckeyes all that they can handle when they visit us this year, I am not so sure of our ability to run the table till our meeting in AA. I think either MSU or Wisconsin will beat Michigan.
Given how this season is going so far, the odds favor at least one of the teams in the NC game having one loss, very possibly both. A 1-loss SEC champ must be given consideration as well as a one-loss B12 champ and/or Pac10 champ and/or B10 champ. I'm still not sure about a 1-loss Big East or ACC champ. BC certainly has an edge as of today if by some miracle they run the table, but I don't think they will. On a related note, I saw a brief interview with the BC coach last night during halftime of the SF-RU game. It ticks me off that he's a likeable guy. I liked it better when they had an a-hole like Coughlin there. It was easier to dislike the team because the coach was so unlikeable. Even O'Brien seemed like a decent guy. Another related note.....I spent some time with a great guy prior to the ND-BC game last week, a '56 BC grad with the map of Ireland written all over his face. When discussing the Jesuits, he commented that God graduated from BC. In a rare moment of quick-wittedness, I immediately retorted that He got His Masters and PhD at ND. Maybe not so funny but at the time we both got a laugh out of it.
 Good one Sid. I think BC goes down next week in yet another great Thurs. night ESPN game when they take on Va Tech. Man..what a treat SF-Rutgers was and so was last night's game btw Louisille-Conn.
I <t>am with Dave on this one.

I don't see BC running the table. Of all the teams the Irish have played this year, I really thought BC was one of the teams we should have had. Their QB is tough and makes good, quick decisions.

Against an offense that can and will play keep away from their offense, I am not sure they would do well... eg VTech</t>
Well, maybe some of the voters "had it right" with regard to Cal's ranking ........ or maybe they were very wrong about UCLA's??? 8)
could <t>be both.

UCLA's on-field talent can't be denied (read my pre-game thoughts for the ND UCLA game), what also can't be denied is that Kaptain Karl is an awful on field coach. If you let the Bruins hang around, their defense can beat you.

Of course, this is a rather huge rivalry game that most folks outside of the state of California don't know about, or care about for that matter. I understand that rivalry games on the West coast seem to mean little to the voters.

Its not all that surprising though. There's a lot of history in the Pac10 and if people read up on it, you wouldn't be as surprised by some teams losing at certain venues.</t>
