I found gas at a Valero in the neighborhood about 9AM this morning, topped off the tank for 3.69 Prem, Reg was 3.39. I'm sure most stations are out of gas by now though, but as I said they supposedly have rigs staged outside the strike zone ready to come in and resupply as soon as it's safe. Terry
True Hurricane Stories... Apparently in one of the towns down the coast from Galveston they local cops went door to door to get people out who hadn't complied with the manditory evac notice. There was one family of 6 that refused to go, they were told that that they wouldn't risk their own lives to rescue them when things got bad. That was last night, this morning they called almost too late they had to get the coast guard out to get them from the house in a boat. Why are people such idiots.
You are in our thoughts and prayers guys, stay smart and take care. We have lots of practice these days in Southern Florida and its always the water that makes things dangerous... RC
I think I read that after 9pm anyone left around the evac areas will be on their own until tomorrow. GOOD. Natural selection can keep this from happening in the future. Morons...
 speaking of golfing I think I remember our trip to Austin.. I remember a family out on the golf course while 2 californias where amazed by the thunder storms they were witnessing.......wasn't there even tornado warnings that day ... But the O'Keefes were on the golf course //// amazing be safe my dear
I posted this in a topic in the Back room as well. If... When Terry loses power, we can possibly keep track through this web site: For anyone wanting to see what is happening live with IKE, check out this link. Click on the speaker icons to turn on sound to which ever live stream you wish to activate sound. Ike video and audio
Yeah you guys had quite a round about trip to Austin didn't you! You got the win though, that's all that counts in the end!!
24,000 people stayed on galveston island?!?!?! I am watching the live coverage on the weather channel. These storms can be hard to predict, but they all knew Galveston Island was going to get hit.. I have a hard time feeling bad for this jackass that just fished himself out of his house.
Geraldo Rivera is one of them. I heard that the water is now six feet deep in the courthouse, at least I think they said the courthouse. Back to Geraldo. About 12:30 last night they were trying to talk to the person in Texas in charge of the storm activities and it was hard for him to get a word in edgewise with Geraldo who was fading in and out. I hope he is ok but I sometimes don't understand these people who find it necessary to stand outside in knee deep water during one of these hurricanes. The place to be is inside!!!
Posted this on the other forum, but got a text from Terry...he's fine and without power...hope he doesn't miss the ND game but not looking good right now.
It appears that the University of Texas made the wrong decision in this one. Currently, we have 12 MPH winds out of the North with occasional gusts to 30 MPH. Not a sign of a rain drop. Traffic is almost non-existent due to the warnings to stay at home. Of course the outcome could have been much different. UT errored on the side of safety and for that, they should be commended. Terry... hope the power is on in time to get the ND game! Stay safe.
I heard from Terry also. Power is still out. He's got Corey to provide him with updates. South Bend is drenched. Over 5 in. recorded. They've closed the fields where many park. Going to be a real mess on and off the roads today.
 Yeas I was watching Fox I kept waiting for 1 big wave to take Geraldo ... Damn little palm tree he tied himself to
