Hey Tim Izzo has a pretty good team this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they make it to the final four. And with the FF at Ford Field they could be tough.
Sparty is the class of the Big 10 for sure.....there is them and everybody else. I see them taking the conference tourney and making a serious run with a legit shot at the Final Four....I don't believe anyone else outside of Sparty has a shot at all....
Tennessee played great tonight in their win over Bama. When Tennessee drives to the basket they're one of the best teams in the country. It will be a tough task for the Florida/Auburn winner to take them down in the semis if they come out as fired up as they were tonight....
Baylor took out Texas tonight. Longhorns had big leads in the 1st half and Baylor made a run and closed it to about 6 at half time and then played them very tight in the 2nd half and won at the end. Scott Drew has done an excellent job with Baylor, this ended a 24 game win streak by the Longhorns over Baylor. Lots of unhappy Longhorn fans.
Aquila, Certainly was not the same team that played Alabama last Sunday. The final four is almost set for the SEC. Tennessee vs Auburn/Florida winner LSU vs Mississippi State Right now, it is a two point game with 3:45 left... Auburn is ahead.
Very disappointed in USC's showing today. Looks like we will be heading to the NIT now instead of the NCAA. But I guess that's what we deserve. The SEC is not great this year and if we can't do any better than that, we don't deserve the NCAA.
Big Ten Tournament progressing pretty much as anticipated. No upsets so far and quarter finals today with my Buckeyes playing Michigan State. (ugh) Purdue will face Illinois.
Semi-finals Don - give us some credit! We earned a bye in the first round! Gutty win against a scrappy Wisky team....held 'em without a bucket for the last 6 minutes with a great defensive effort. Sparty is another matter.....we don't match up well with them at all. They just pound us on the glass. Too big, too strong and physical down low. We're going to have our hands full. I'd love to see maybe Lauderdale and BJ on the floor at the same time with Turner working the point. I think that's the only way we can bang with them....it's gonna be a tough, tough game.
I received no feedback when I stated on Monday that our loss to Alabama could just be the best thing that happened to this team. They were getting cocky against the Cocks in the final minutes. They appeared to believe that they only had to show up and be crowned against Alabama. That wake up call looks to be what they needed. Hopefully they will remember last Sunday for the rest of the SEC and NCAA tourney.
Buckeye Terry, I guess I was thinking about our quarter finals victory yesterday over Wisconsin. Matta does not seem to like to experiment this late in the season? You might have a wonderful solution, but I would be surprised to see both our big men out there today. Mullens needs to be more aggressive, but then he tends to make some foolish fouls. Don
You are right about Matta to be sure, but he did play around with both big men on the floor a few times and significantly, it was right after we got our butts kicked on the glass by Sparty.....that's why I wouldn't be surprised if he went big on Sparty. We're gonna have to do something to make a difference in the paint or Izzo's boys are gonna take us out back to the woodshed.....
I hope so too, Tom. This team really frustrates me though. When they're focused and execute the gameplan, they are as good as any team I've seen play. They just don't always show up with that same enthusiasm. They owe Auburn one too so hopefully they'll come out fired up again today.
Ohio State upsets Michigan State in the semi finals today in the Big Ten Tournament 82-70. Our three point shooting and MSU could not seem to buy a basket. Certainly one of our better efforts this season. Don
Great win for the Buckeyes. North Carolina lost today as well. That means of the potential #1 seeds, like UNC, Pitt, UConn, Mich State, and OU have all lost and won't be in their Conf Championships. Some say that's actually a good thing, keeps them fresh for a NCAA run and hungry as well.
Tennessee just put away Auburn in the semi-final. The SEC tourney is now going to the final game with Tennessee and Mississippi State as the teams left standing. Mississippi State just beat the regular season champion LSU. They are playing with the elimination cloud over their head. Lose to Tennessee in the final and they have no chance of getting to the dance.
Great win and big confidence booster for our young Bucks....Sparty needs to shoot it alot better than that to make any noise in the tourney. I'd like to blame some of that on our defense, which was good to be sure, but I'll take it no matter how it comes..... Purdue putting the wood to the Illini....looks like Buckeyes and Boilers in the finals.
We had to make a quick run to Kissimmee Friday night and didn't arrive urntil early am then visited a very sick friend and our grand kids Sat. We are leaving around noon today to go back. I haven't seen any of the games since Thursday. Tennessee is in the final and I think this is the year they realize their potential and win the SEC. I am rooting for them. The Gators lost a close one to Auburn and most likely played their way into the NIT by losing that game. We have a 10-8 record in the SEC with only one loss over 10 points. The surprise to me was the S. Carolina. I expected them to play Sat and maybe today.
