Both Astros and Phillies just need to win 1 at home and got swept instead. I think I read that the D'Backs have the fewest wins of a WS team in a long time.
It's official, Dusty has retired. I would imagine his next gig will be at the HOF induction ceremony. I know players aren't eligible till they have been retired for 5 years, I don't think that applies to a Manager like Dusty, so I wonder when he'll be on the ballot. No real word on who will take over, Astros are a veteran squad with the lineup returning intact and star players Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve hopefully playing full seasons. Verlander will be back they get Lance McCullers Jr back and Louis Garcia (he of the rock the baby delivery). Only guys who are free agents of note are Martin Maldanado and Michael Brantly We should be good again next year.
I'm not really interested in the WS, but I think this exchange between Derek Jeter and George Bush is worth seeing, given the memory of his first pitch at Yankee Stadium after 9/11:
He obviously did a great job in Milwaukee. Totally understand why he would want to manage a franchise that will open the checkbook to compete for a championship. But the Cubs? A mortal enemy! Brewer fans reacted to this news as if the sale of beer, brats, and cheese was prohibited by federal law.
Given what you've said about the finances of the Guardians it's no surprise that he ended up in Chicago as the highest paid Mgr in baseball. Good luck to him, I hope he's as successful in Chicago as he was in Milwaukee. Even more so, like to see him take the Cubs to WS.
Somebody reminded me that Craig Counsell is linked one of the more painful moments in Tribe/Guardian history scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 12th in the 1997 WS when he was with the Marlins.
Brewers fans are reacting like Packer fans did when Farve signed with the Vikings. Definitely jilted lover vibe time in Wisconsin.
