The illegal bat thing is another stupid, but true issue. Albert Pujols could and did use the bat no problem. After the Astros catcher went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a Game 1 loss Friday night, Maldonado said he was contacted by the MLB and told he's not allowed to use Pujols' bats. Pujols debuted in the majors in 2001, but by 2010, baseball changed its rules regarding bat specifications. Players who were in the majors before the rule change were grandfathered in and allowed to continue using their bats for the rest of their career.
Phillies / Eagles fans are the worst behaved in sports. They are savages. I have been to plenty of games there and witnessed it firsthand. I give them the edge of over Jets fans and that is saying something. I've seen things as a former Jets season ticket holder that scarred me for life. It's a sports version of PTSD. Indescribable stuff.
It’s raining baseballs in Philly. Stu, 4 Cleveland players earned Gold Gloves. Don’t know names but it’s a nice team honor
I'd say Lance McCullers Jr is shell shocked at this point. He's only given up 6 hits, but 5 of them have been HR's.
Sid is it still a thing to not talk about a pitcher throwing a no hitter while he's doing it? Fox Announcers are all over that, mention it every other minute! I'd like to see them finish the no-hitter but I'm mainly interested in getting the shutout and the win!!! No late rally by the Phils bombing some HR's. Cristian Javier was really sharp tonight, he had the Phils completely off balance. But it's all for naught if the bullpen lets him down. Wait...am I jinxing the 'stros?
Bieber, Gimenez, Kwan, and Straw. First time for each one. First time Cleveland has had 4. I’m on a cruise so haven’t been posting much. Transatlantic w 4 stops in Spain and one in Bahamas. Did get my picks in so I can maintain my record of futility.
Apparently not, as far as game announcers, but they're far away from the dugout, where it's always been a thing/superstition/tradition. How many times has a team been red hot one night and ice cold the next? Of course, the Astros' pitching had something to do with it. Javier was lights out, and their relief pitchers have been almost untouchable in the playoffs.
Talk about a nail biter! Great Astros defense gets the credit for that win. Verlander struggled again but gutted it up and held them down after the lead off HR. He gets his 1st WS win, it wasn't pretty though. We go home now and have Frambler, who has been great on Saturday night. What a catch by the Astros CF and ND alum Trey Mancini making a great play on the laser shot by Schwarber.
Pitchers duel through 4, Frambler got off to a bit of a rough start but the 3rd and 4th he's seemingly taking control. Wheeler has been super sharp from the get go. 0-0 through 4
What an epic win, Frambler getting WS win #2, the rookie Pena making plays with his glove and bat to get the MVP to go along with his MVP in the ALCS, and Yordan coming alive with a epic bomb to deep CF to win the game. Timely hitting and great pitching was formula. This is still a pretty young team with the exception of Verlander. We could be back again next year. 2 big stories for the off season will be what Aaron Judge does and what Justin Verlander does. I hope Verlander is back with the Astros.
Congratulations, Terry. The heavy favorite won. I'm a Schwarber fan, and he played very well. Phillies fans can and should be proud of how their team scratched and clawed their way into the World Series and didn't lie down. Also happy for Verlander getting his first WS win.
